CLOTHING ADVENTURES
Who: Anyone! Everyone!
What: Clothes were requested. Clothes are now granted.
When: morning of the 22nd initially
Where: meet me at the room that's literally filled to the brim with clothing in 15 minutes
Warnings: It's just clothes, what could possibly go wrong!
Notes: Everyone gets free clothes whether they participated in the actual request or not. CLOTHES FOR THE ENTIRE ISLAND.
There's a room in the Storyteller's temple; it was once empty, and now it's...not. It is, in fact, full of clothing of all sorts, to the point that it might be slightly difficult to find exactly what you're looking for.
Oh well. It's there now, no takebacks.

What's a hell. But they do recognise the name, of a sort. They put a hand to their face, clearly in thought. Well, she seems to know what she's doing. Why not ask?
They shuffle a bit, clearing a space to write, and scratch on the ground.
are these stars?
They point to the jacket, then to the cloak currently spilling out of their arms, and then tilt their head to the side in apparent confusion.

And interesting emphasis words. She can't help a small smile tugging at the edge of her mouth, at their whole thing, their expressive gesturing and all.
"That's right, peanut. Or like, it's how people like to represent stars? They're actually the little spots of light in the night sky. You don't have that where you're from?"
no subject
Teach them how to swear more, it's vocabulary expansion!!Another little headtilt at being called a peanut. That's something you can eat, isn't it? They're not sure how to interpret it, but as long as they're not actually getting eaten, it's all good.
lights in sky mean different things for me
Scarier, for one thing. They were a child of void and underground places. It was not in their nature to seek light, or even to look up that much.
friend called me a star
she likes them
so want to learn what it means for others

Well you've come to the right elf for that particular skill, my friend. If Lup knew what was going on in that precious lil skull of theirs, vis a vis nicknames and their edibility, they'd already be adopted, pretty much. Lup's got a type and that type is orphans who take food-based terms of endearment way too seriously.
She watches their careful scratching with interest and as it becomes clear there's a bit more to this story, she pulls out a piece of coarse paper and a charcoal pen from her bag, laying it out in front of them.
Reading their words, she has to chuckle. Oh, this sounds familiar. "Your friend isn't called Ren, by any chance?" And if they aren't, she's gonna have to make sure to introduce these two. "If somebody calls you a star, that means you're dope as hell, like, you're the best! People usually like stars, I mean, they're pretty and like, mysterious? Cuz they're so far away, most societies don't really get to go up there and check 'em out up close."
no subject
Well. This certainly makes things easier! They give her a polite little bow in thanks, before taking up the pen and kneeling to continue their writing. The way they write is precise and neat; though they limit their choice of words to save space, the act is clearly nothing new to them.
yes i know Ren
she is kind to me
i like her : )
you are also her friend ?
nice to meet you
my name is knight
what is yours ?
The other puzzling things like 'dope as hell' and further explanation on stars can wait (how does 'dope as hell' translate into 'you're the best'? A mystery); for now, they want to greet this person properly.

"I'm Lup, and it is very good to meet you too," she says and sketches an amused bow at the waist in return. "And yeah, Ren's... she's great. I'm her... her aunt." She stumbles over the word, for just a moment, suddenly feeling like she lost that, that impossibly precious title when she didn't stop Ren escaping from camp. When she desperately turned over every rock in the darkness and found her in full bloom, alone and still warm, too late to be there for her.
But that's nothing for them to worry about and she swallows the lump of grief in her throat, turning to the side quickly to fold up another shirt on her pile.
"So uhm, Knight, huh? Is that really your name or more of a, an occupation?" Kind of a small knight, she doesn't say, because size isn't an indicator of fierceness.
no subject
They notice that little hiccup in her voice and - they don't know and won't ask but they think they understand, a little, what might be causing her to stumble.
(They had tried to follow her, to keep track of her, but they were too sick themselves to do so, too exhausted. She came back, lacking a voice like them, and the defeat and guilt of realisation and grief had sat in their chest.
Ren had died alone and they had failed to be by her side.)
They don't ask. They simply brush over it, silently, and write.
good she has family
deserves to be loved
The Knight's view on themselves is...difficult and strange and yet to be determined, but they know that Ren, gentle and kind and sweet and precocious, shouldn't be by herself, should be surrounded with people who love her. It's good to know she has that.
They ponder Lup's next question for a moment. How to describe it in as few words as possible, in a way that conveys quick understanding?
both
was not named
named myself
after ideals
after what i want to be
(They can almost hear the faded ghost of a warrior long dead, his empty shell of a body left among light. "A Knight strives not only to protect the land and its people, but the hopes and dreams of the kingdom," says Galien, somewhere in the back of their mind. Just a memory.)
There is a slight hesitation, and then they write:
after sibling
It's...important. To convey that. It is only one of the reasons they named themselves the way they did, but it is a terribly important one.
The more people they tell, the more their sibling will be known. Even here, in a strange place. There is life of a sort, granted by memory. It is all they can do for them.
