I don't know if anyone can, unless they wrote it down somewhere. Especially since we don't have electricity and, uh... microscopes or calculators.

[Keith shuts his eyes. He's thinking about what Hector just said. But something about it doesn't sit right. He shakes his head.]

If that was the case then why are the living among us unaffected? Most stuff here has some kind of tie back to why we're looking at an island.

This one was ore. ...but all we've found are robots, labs, and flowers.

Is it too much to ask that we got lucky and it's not contagious anymore?

[He raises a brow, which he absolutely shouldn't be able to do. Someone stop this skeleton madness.]

You... lost me there. What about ore?

[Oh right. He pauses, and sets his hands on the table.] There are times we go into a kind of dream. Storyteller talks to us there. We tell stories and we as a group get to decide what island they pull close to this one, Enso.

It's based on what we want to find. This time the winning votes were for finding ore, metals, we could work with. And as much as I hope that sickness isn't contagious...something tells me we better be prepared.

[Right, that... well, he can follow that, even if it doesn't make perfect sense.]

It has those 'robots'. And who knows what's underground. Maybe there's a mineshaft that collapsed somewhere?

Maybe. We'll have to explore the whole island to know. [Keith crosses his arms over his chest and leans back slightly.]

But they needed to get the metal to make the robots from somewhere. So unless they imported it...the source has to be here.

That's what I said. There must be a caved-in mine, or something. Someone could always melt the broken ones down too.

[They're scrap metal to him, not people's remains. It's no different than recycling a car.]

If that's the case there's a production facility somewhere on that island. Even broken down we could repair a smelter long enough to use it.

...but we'd have to build one on this island too.

Or we take the easy route and ask the Storyteller for one already built for us. Would that work? They can do that kind of thing, right?

We could but that could waste a resource we have for any kind of crisis. I think we should try building it ourselves first. [He taps his fingers against his bicep as his eyes darken with deeper thought.]

The more we do ourselves...the more we can guarantee our survival by our own hands.

No, no, it's the favors we don't want to waste. You never know when someone's going to get sent home with all those offerings they didn't use. They're no good until we redeem them.

Anyway, unless someone's built one from nothing before and knows how, it'll take a while to get it right.

[Waste of time, too. This is not Enso's most patient skeleton. He pauses and shrugs.] I don't need anything for myself. You could always take mine.
