July Adventure: Where the Weeds are Now Growing Free

NEW ISLAND: UMUI
Who: Everyone!
What: Umui appears, and a new adventure begins
When: July 10th and onward
Where: Umui
Warnings: Tag as you go!

'Cause the Dirt is Up to My Eyes
As of July 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to the new island of Umui.

Travelers will arrive on a mana pool situated on the C1 square. The thick crops of flowers spring freely across the lush, grassy landscape, clustered in dense knots. The variety behind these growths seems profoundly limited: it is as though each flower has only sprouted around others of its kind, mingling solely at the edges. A large building looms in the corner of the region, a twisting, unfurling mass of piping and a half-crumbled metallic shine.

Whatever lays inside, or beyond the island's limits, is for you to discover for yourself.

Welcome to the new island of Umui! As the island is now accessible, feel free to begin preparations and explorations in this log, or create new ones of your own! For further information in regards to the island, or plotting, the following links may prove handy:

[It appears so, however it is clear they at least tried prior to hitting the error. Grimm approaches the machine and lays a gentle hand on its shoulder. It may mean nothing, but his hand is unusually warm.

There is a very good chance ARUM-25 felt nothing, but Grimm knew it would make him no better then Wyrm if he dismissed the possibility outright.]

You do not have to be sorry, my friend. I have one more question if you are willing to answer me.

[A machine is not comprised of nerves and living flesh, it is true. They are code and refined ore and finely worked metals, bound together into something whose purpose has become...obsolete. Formed by someone else's hands, and now facing the reality that the greenery working its way up them will inevitably choke them out entirely.]

[A soft spray of sparks by their neck as they attempt to turn their head to acknowledge the movement. It fails, but it is nonetheless an appreciation of the gesture.]

Will attempt t-t-t-to answer answer answer.

[Perhaps that is the sad thing in the end. Grimm continued through the Ritual, as his predecessor birthed him, he would do the same for his own child. An endless cycle but he was alive through it. Yet for this machine all it took was for someone out of their control to stop and they'd simply stop.

Maybe they could change that fate. Searches here have been turning up metals. Perhaps there was someone on the island with the knowledge to repair them.]

The data pad I showed you has a curious sentence, one that appeared to trouble those who have been on the island of Enso much longer then I. "We live and die free of the draperies of our fiction." Were those that lived on this island from or shared relations with an island known as Ai'tuoh?

[There's another lengthy pause, the hum of a processor taxed beyond measure, straining to pull together circuits of memory that have long since degraded.]

DATA ERASED.

[Grimm's eyes narrow, although this time out of confusion rather then anything else. That certainly is a reaction. Either the data was erased prior or it was because he asked.

Either option is not comforting. Dropping pretenses, Grimm asks another question.]

Why was the data erased? Is it so people outside of Ai'tuoh cannot ask anything about it?

[To say they do not sound like the most friendliest people is an understatement.]

[Another skip and judder, the squeal of electronics straining to close a loop that has been barred for them.]

S-s-source of deletion unknown.

[One thing, however, may be clear: the fact that there is a very defined difference between data corruption and data deletion. While age and wear is inevitable, particularly under these circumstances, there's no ignoring the bottom line:]

[That particular data was erased on purpose.]

[Indeed. Grimm could not completely discard the possibility of a lie taking place, thus far there has been nothing but honest answers. The machine's memory was being worn down by age, but this had been cut out of them completely by someone and on purpose.

Perhaps it was possible to restore it but that would be out of Grimm's hands. He did not have the experience to repair such a machine and would likely just make the situation worse. But with the connection to Ai'tuoh possibly established, along with the information gained from speaking with Muffet regarding the apparent objection to the domain of stories the Storyteller ruled over....perhaps...]

You will have to forgive me but there is another question on my mind. After this I will leave you and attempt to seek a way to repair what is damaged. Do you or the ones who created you know of a God called the Storyteller?

[The effect is immediate.]

IN-INITIATE -

[More sparks. Hissing, fizzling in the air, the automaton's head twitching on the metallic stalk of their neck, looking for all the world like they may very well have writhed out of their seat were they not more or less bound to it by the trailing growth.]

[An immediate and quite a volatile effect indeed. The sparks do not bother Grimm, to used to heat and fire as he was, but he backs up a little as the robot begins to thrash.

The Troupe Master's question was answered like he requested. And he had many more questions from that statement alone, but he was going to keep his word and leave it there. The robot certainly was taking a toll from all of this and playing at twenty questions was lible to destroy their only source of information they have at this time.

Muffet mentioned there was a place the Storyteller could be spoken to, if they decided to answer one's call. And perhaps it may be best to speak to the source. Besides...

"Let them be forgotten."

That was a method of dealing with a God that Grimm was certainly very, very familiar with. He will wait until they have calmed down before bowing one more time.]

I thank you for the information you have provided, and I will go speak to them about this. Farewell, my friend. There will likely be someone around who will fix the age and rot that has overcome you.

[Grimm is likely not the only one who would wander across this broken down robot. Perhaps they will the correct skills in offering the robot a second chance at their life.]

[ARUM-25 stills almost at once. That brief bout of volatility seems to have exhausted what little energy they still have. They do not even have the requisite power for a proper farewell. The lights behind their eyes pulse feebly, once, before their head lowers with a solemn creak.]

[They would appreciate the manners, most likely, if they had the wherewithal to take note of them.]
