July Adventure: Where the Weeds are Now Growing Free

NEW ISLAND: UMUI
Who: Everyone!
What: Umui appears, and a new adventure begins
When: July 10th and onward
Where: Umui
Warnings: Tag as you go!

'Cause the Dirt is Up to My Eyes
As of July 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to the new island of Umui.

Travelers will arrive on a mana pool situated on the C1 square. The thick crops of flowers spring freely across the lush, grassy landscape, clustered in dense knots. The variety behind these growths seems profoundly limited: it is as though each flower has only sprouted around others of its kind, mingling solely at the edges. A large building looms in the corner of the region, a twisting, unfurling mass of piping and a half-crumbled metallic shine.

Whatever lays inside, or beyond the island's limits, is for you to discover for yourself.

Welcome to the new island of Umui! As the island is now accessible, feel free to begin preparations and explorations in this log, or create new ones of your own! For further information in regards to the island, or plotting, the following links may prove handy:

He nudges the box with one bare foot, but that's all--somehow he doubts there's anything actually useful inside.

It's the other skeleton that's got his attention, mostly. Papyrus, you're a strange one, even by Héctor's incredibly low standards. Like any dog, alive or dead, could fit in such a small box.

...Well, it could be bigger on the inside. Probably is. Yeah, the other three have the right idea. These islands are the worst.

(A dog is still not the most frightening thing that could pop out of the box.)

"Are you that afraid of dogs?"
thermalwind: (That...tank buster.)

He pauses mid-reach for the box and stares at Papyrus. He looks at Lance and Hector. "...dogs?" You know what.

Back to business.

He draws Riptide. The sickle made of coral, and various bits of the sea bound together into a lethal weapon is turned so the curving edge is pointed towards a hypothetical throat. If something shoots out he'll rip it across and do serious damage. He works at the box with his other hand. He forces the lid up and over.

Nothing comes out. He flips his sickle and straps it back against his belt. Inside the box tucked up in one corner is a bound up scroll. He eyes it. "Hey. Get a look at this." Keith shifts so the rest of them can take a look.

"Well," he starts, because this conversational thread is not going to just be dropped. "Dogs like to chew bones, don't they?"

Seems like a reasonable fear to him! For as much as any fear a skeleton that claims it's explicitly a monster can be reasonable. Shouldn't a monster skeleton be too fearsome to be fearful?

He hovers near the dock as Keith pries the box open, keeping an eye on the horizon, but once he the box is opened and there's no poison gas pouring out or a dog leaping to bite Keith in the arm, he leans in. It's...kind of disappointing? "Aww, I was hoping it'd be treasure."

"Exactly!! They are annoying and small and steal my bones?? They're a nuisance!!"

It doesn't seem to be...fear, exactly. More like...complaining about something extremely specific that seems to happen an awful lot.

But no dog springs forth from the box, so any apprehension Papyrus had is immediately thrown to the wind (though if he had any, it's hard to guess).

"Well!! Paper is still important!" Says the guy named after a font that's also named after a paper?? He peers into the box, and picks up the scroll within, carefully unrolling it and angling it so that everyone can see it.

But that's hardly necessary because he's totally going to read it out loud. In that kind of voice that suggests he's read things out loud a thousand times before and by god is not going to stop.
vagabone: (no stories for me)

"Point, they do do that." Not to him, so much, but Papyrus isn't entirely wrong. Only mostly wrong. "You would think so, Paperboy."

But then his playful expression fades when the other skeleton starts to read, replaced by something more solemn. So this island they're on once had people, a civilization... probably Enso too. Weird magic and rabbit gods or not, whoever lived here couldn't stop mother nature.

"A tsunami."

"Or a god," Keith says, his voice quiet and measured. He peers at the scroll. "No date." Usually, people dated logs. Why not this one?

"They mentioned a temple." He's shifting gears from a Mamora scout to Paladin. "We need to inform the others about this. We should also double check this area. If there's one there might be more."
thegoofball: (huh)

"Not like a date would mean much of anything." Time is not measured consistently. You would think it would be a constant, something instantly recognizable, but nope. Time means nothing.

Temple also means they have something to look for, and Lance rolls his shoulders back. "Would it be worth looking for this temple, too?" Where would it even...be. In the center of the island?
