May Intro: We're Going Down, Down

Floating Islet: And Sugar, We're Going Down Swinging
While new arrivals may generally be expected at this time of the month, one factor that has continuously failed to maintain consistency is their point of arrival. And indeed, it appears that this month has once again exceeded even the Storyteller's expectations as to where arrivals may take their first steps on this world. Those who were with us in February will most certainly remember the floating islands hovering far, far above the mainland. While they currently remain inaccessible, they are still steadily floating overhead, shifting appearance as if made of the clouds themselves. And so while waking up on top of the world may be a surprise, at the very least new arrivals will have a bird's eye view of Ensō to enjoy for a time...until they take notice of a rather sinking sensation.

In fact, that sensation would be the island itself, starting to sink out of the sky.

So that's nice.

On a crash course for the ground at F6, the Storyteller will eventually slow the island's progress to the ground below, though a rather profound impact is, simply put, inevitable. Characters with the ability of flight will find the island skimming low enough to reach on their own. Others may wish to utilize their resourcefulness to find an alternate means down.

Or, perhaps, you'll simply deal with whatever awaits you at the crash site.

F6 and Beyond: In An Earlier Round
Thankfully, the Storyteller's intervention will ensure that no one still on the not-so-floating island upon impact will escape with minor injuries at worst, the island itself crumbling to pieces and taking down more than a few thick trees. The pieces of the island will very quickly begin to blacken, crumbling underfoot as the floating island turns to dust. Anyone still aboard may wish to make a very quick departure.

The ripples of this impact, however, are far more significant than two pieces of land bumping up against one another.

Previously, visitors to the floating islands may have experienced some...oddities, during their time above the clouds. For the next few days, these oddities will spread across Ensō itself, leading to some rather awkward scenarios:

[ ♆ ] Some may find their weapons are... behaving oddly, though all are still functional. Weapons, in this instance, may also include fisticuffs, if the intent is to use your fists as a weapon.

[ ♆ ] Equally as irritating are those who find themselves coming down with a severe case of NPCitus: periods of time in which they find themselves incapable of saying more than one or two lines of the same, repetitive dialogue.

[ ♆ ] Equal parts nostalgic and irritating for some are the instances of lag (walking forwards, only to find oneself back where they started), Swimmer's Ear (incapable of movement unless swimming through the air), and clipping (suddenly stuck halfway through the nearest rock are all common, regrettable side-effects).

[ ♆ ] Other unfortunate side-effects may also transpire, as varied and wild as one's imagination.

Though many of these may be hindering or even dangerous in the right situations, they are, for the most part, passive. The Storyteller will assure anyone who asks that these oddities will disappear in the next few days.

You are free to create or utilize glitches you are particularly fond of, though keep in mind that any potential content warnings should be mentioned in your toplevel! People might be hurt. [Shion looks up at the boy in the tree, he had seen. He had seen islands falling from the sky and that couldn't be good.

Not that islands should be in the sky to begin with...] Can you see anybody? [Because if so they should go and help]

[wow, way to rain on Crow's fun here buddy]

Uhhh...

[Crow squints at the islands for a long moment.]

... Maybe? I see something moving over there, but I can't say for sure.

[savedbyasong]

[He frowns] We should go and check. [Or he should go and check anyways, he can't even see who it is up the tree properly though the voice is familiar]

[tomodachi]

... I guess. [There's a slight pause, and then--] As a matter of fact, maybe there was some treasure that fell down along with the island too.

[And then Crow jumps down from the tree here, now meeting Shion on the ground.]

Treasure? [As the boy jumps down Shion sees him properly and realises where he met him before. The memory is... hazy, distant. But it's the boy from Ai'Tuoh, the one who was worried about Seto, the one Shion had acted so callous towards, the boy who threatened to punch him.]

Oh... [He looks awkward, ashamed, worried.]

[tomodachi]

Yeah, treasure! You know, shiny stuff? Valuable items to find and hoard?

[At the look though, Crow frowns.]

What are you staring at me for? Is there something on my face?

[savedbyasong]

[Shion blinked and looked down] No... it's... [Breathing, the boy didn't seem to have recognised him] We've met before... I'm sorry... [For being so callous, for being a monster that burned down cities, for everything really.]

[tomodachi]

Huh?

[There's a pause, and then...]

Oh yeah, you're that guy who was burning stuff down! I remember you now.

But, uh... what are you apologizing for, again?

[savedbyasong]

[Shion looked at his feet. He needed to breathe, it was alright. He could apologise, he had to apologise and though it wouldn't make what he did better it...

The question makes him blink] I... I burned things down... I didn't.... I wasn't [He wants to say wasn't myself, but that would be a lie. Nothing had been controlling him, he had been out of control. But that lack of control was part of him...]

I'm sorry I... I hope you found Seto... I was worried when I... stopped...

[tomodachi]

Okay, okay, I get it, enough with that. It's not like I was actually mad or something with what you were doing. Besides, I found Seto soon after anyway, so you can forget all about it now.

[Apologizing gives him hives... or at least, it would if Crow was human, he thinks.]

[savedbyasong]

Okay... [Breathing, he's not sure why this boy wasn't mad at what he was doing but he's not going to argue, the boy doesn't seem to want to talk about it and Shion has learned a little about reading people's cues. ]

Lets... lets go and see if we can help...

[tomodachi]

Yeah. If there's nobody there, at least there might be something interesting to look at?

[Or at least that's Crow's reasoning to assist on this potential rescue mission as he follows Shion to the fallen island now.]

[savedbyasong]

I guess. [He smiles, still a little unsure at everyting but willing to take Crow on face value.] I wonder why they fell?

[tomodachi]

Maybe there was too much stuff on the island and it finally became too heavy to stay in the sky?

[savedbyasong]

Maybe [Shion doesn't sound convinced] But what was on there. They never fell when we were all up there. Why now?

[tomodachi]

... Fine. Then what do you think happened, smart guy?

[savedbyasong]

[He blinked] I don't know... That's why I was asking the questions, to try and find the answers.

[They had been mostly hypothetical, points to consider]

[tomodachi]

And I tried to give you an answer, which you rejected.

[Just saying...]

[savedbyasong]

[Shion paused and blushed.] Sorry... [He hadn't meant to reject him, he had just... the theory hadn't made much sense. But he shouldn't have made the boy feel bad about it]

[tomodachi]

... Whatever. Let's just get looking already.

[Do you see any people the closer we get to this thing, Shion?]

[savedbyasong]

Okay... [He still feels bad, but he's not sure how to fix it really, so he concentrates on making his way through the jungle, towards were he thought the island would have landed.

No people so far]

[tomodachi]

I don't see anything so far... not even anything interesting worth scavenging yet. What about you?

[savedbyasong]

Not yet [They were close though he thought, over there maybe?

He stepped towards where he thought it was... and found himself behind Crow by a few paces. He had been in front of the other boy before... what?

What?]

[tomodachi]

[Crow blinks for a moment, before turning to look behind him. Wasn't the guy in front of us before?]

Oi, what are you doing back there?

[savedbyasong]

I... I don't know?

[What's going on? Had he moved backwards? Had Crow sped up. He had been in front and now he is behind.]

I don't know what happened...
