I Think I Got Too Many Memories Getting In The Way Of Me
Who: Anyone willing to deal with an armed, violent-prone child having a tantrum
What: Chara's horrible, no good, very bad day. Someone's getting stabbed! Potentially multiple people! Someone's getting punched in the face! Potentially multiple people!
When: 11th to the 13th of April

11th - Even At The Best Of Times I'm Out Of My Mind | Islet One
They aren't the type of child who seeks out others, when something happens. Something awful, something utterly out of their control. They do not want to talk about it. They will not cry, nor sulk. There will be very few, if history has proven anything, who will even realize they have been slighted in some way at all.
And then there are those who are on island one when Chara walks up to that now empty abode. And perhaps, they will also not realize that anything is out of the norm-- but they'll certainly take stock of the suddenly flaming knife in their hand, the very same one that embeds itself in the cottage with four, additional rooms added to it, the one with no owner.
The knife, still on fire, remains embedded in now smoking wood. Calmly, Chara takes out a second knife.
And up in flames that one goes, as well.
11-13th - You Only Get What You Grieve | E4
According to some, setting houses on fire is not a healthy outlet for stress.
Which, realistically, is probably fair. The solution to this problem is not to stab inanimate objects, no sir. So how about some animate ones, instead?
The fact that the centipuppies are kind of cute doesn't mitigate the issues they cause- a pack of the creatures could go after a singular target with ease. A cute nuisance. A potentially dangerous nuisance. There would likely be one or two people not too keen on the burning carcasses they've left strewn about the place, but centipuppies aren't docile. They're not a rare creature upon Enso, either; ridding the beach of a single pack isn't problematic at all.
Not even slightly.
If anything, the ordeal becomings something of a mind numbing task, child walking up and down the stretch of the beach, watching out for stragglers. For the next two days, it's all they're going to do. Walk. Wait. And when the situation calls for it
Lash out.
13th, closed to Frisk, Lup, and Tim - Are You Smelling That Shit? | Islet 3
[Their flowers are wilted.
Three days without attention, and Chara should have expected this, really. It's not as if the plants themselves are going to die; they're sturdy enough to take a bit of thirst, a slight amount of burn at the edges of their petals from a harsh sun. The majority of them will love; there are even more shoots to grow, ready to take the place of those that won't.
But there are those that won't.
Frowning critically, Chara considers- the various things they could and should be doing, at this point. Carefully pruning the leaves and picking off the wilted buds, mixing the earth with some more most soil. Watering them all. It's a sizeable enough patch now that it should take a few hours for just the one person- plenty enough to keep them moving until they're tired, ready to find... perhaps ready to collapse into their hammock, after a few days of sleeping outside.
And yet, they don't move just yet. There's so much to do here- and moreso, if they would pay attention to anything else. They haven't been looking for food, the past few days. Haven't been collecting resources to trade with Lup and Taako. Haven't been to the new island past a brief, cursory look; the familiar, tell-tale itch of curiosity absent. Haven't spoken to Frisk or Tim since he-- since this started. There is a great deal to do.
They don't move just yet.]

[He heard the shouts fizzling into the sunlit air as the stitch in his side faded, Asriel howling his outrage while Chara's red-laced tone whipcracked in his wake. He heard them, and he kept walking, because that was what was required of him - and because when things quieted, both children were alive and unhurt. They hadn't escalated to the point of physical violence, despite however much both were capable of it.]
[They were always capable of it.]
[The slap of flesh on flesh, and the scuffling in the dirt is all but swallowed in the static-roar of crimson washing out from two pairs of bared teeth, two pairs of parted lips. What greets him outside, in the garden, is worse than what he'd initially imagined. It's not the ritualistic, polite, your-turn-my-turn manner of exchange that monsters apparently favor. It's fingers digging into hair, nails clawing across faces, knuckles being driven into stomachs.]
[It's the way kids would fight, if they were allowed to be kids.]
[It's a dangerous weapon that he has at his disposal, and it always spools something heavy and molten inside him, when he uses it - when he sucks in his breath and barks out a loud, adult snap of sound:]

[Hates how quickly he comes to that conclusion. Bulls forward anyway, one arm looping around Frisk's middle, the other bracing against Chara's shoulder in what he already knows is a doomed attempt to separate them.]

[Tim's bellowed commands aren't really helping here, neither with the worry hammering in her ears nor with the-- fucking toddler Fight Club happening, apparently. Holy shit? It's not like Lup hasn't seen kids getting real rowdy before, she's been the one wailing on her brother for some stupid offense that was forgotten the moment somebody tried to actually get between them.]
[But this isn't that. That much is clear by the fury in the blows and the fucking grown ass adult struggling to separate them. She doesn't know what's going on but she knows these are kids who simply can't stop. She knows how close they are, impossibly so.]
[And the ones closest to you always know how to hit you where it hurts most.]
[She's not gonna let it get any uglier than it already has, for them. Without a moment to spare for feeling sorry, she joins the fray and wraps her arms around Chara, pulling back against the tiny flailing fury in her embrace. Boy, she's gonna net a few hits for sure.]

[Frisk shrieks to their the unwelcome guests the top of their lungs, their voice showing its prepubescent fragility as it cracks at the edges; Chara yanks at their bun, spilling dusty, sand-tousled hair over their face. The knee to their gut hurts, but it's when another pair of arms circle tight around their aching middle that they stop as if flash-frozen. Their fingers turn bone-white and dig even harder into Chara's shirt. A soft, surprised sound leaps out of them, and when the man's strong arms start tugging them his way --]
[-- they don't let go. They don't want to --]

[Their panic wrings it out of them, but they don't know who they're saying it to. Their Partner, but that doesn't seem right, when someone is pulling at them and their hands are deadlocked into the only person they have left, when they're hissing at the ground with their teeth bared, their sweaty bangs thrown over their face. The adults, always getting in the way, always hurting them, always --]
[Themself.]
[Faintly, they register Tim's and Lup's voices still screeching over their own, and it's not safe, it's never safe, but they allow themself to let go of Chara, in the same motion wrenching at Tim's grip as though he burns them to the touch. They speak up again, slow and quiet and deliberately calm; whether anyone chooses to talk over them or not.]
Fine. Do whatever you want. Leave. Everyone does.

The fabric of their shirt goes taught; Frisk's grip versus the hold and pull of two adults, who may as well be strangers for all it matters right now. That momentary pause shatters into a furious howl as Chara begins to struggle, throwing one hand up and ignoring the sting as it collides with Lup, hard.
The other hand holds onto Frisk's wrist like a vice, steely DETERMINATION that refuses to come loose. Not of Frisk, not of this- everything else is gone and they don't know if they love them or they LOVE them but they don't-

That's when Chara starts to laugh. They laugh, and they laugh- they just-- can't stop. They laugh so hard, tears roll down their cheeks. They laugh, loud and high and hysterical, wrenching forward in Lup's grip as Frisk shuts down, like it's all fine. Do what you want Chara. Leave.

[Perhaps it's for the best, that they're laughing too hard to continue speaking, kicking and struggling to free themself with every intention of finishing what they started.

[He snaps it out, whipcrack-snarling, knowing the sheer pointlessness in the act. He can't soak his words in red, but he can refuse to relinquish his hold, garroting his arms tight around Frisk's middle so even as they wrench in his grip, even as the suddenness of the motion jackknifes into the pit of his chest like something black and poisonous.]
[They're not the one he's worried about, right now. He darts a glance up to Lup, sharp and frantic. Doesn't say anything; doesn't need to.]
[Get them away from each other can be communicated through the grim horror in his expression alone.]

And there it is. The thing she'd hoped to spare them, blood-red words cutting worse than any knife, that they can't take back and won't be able to mend easily. She winces in sympathy as Chara goes slack with shock-- and then again as a foot connects with her knee and it smarts like a motherfucker.
She doubles down on her hold, determined not to give them enough space to take any more swings, and wrenches them sideways to get her body between them and their target. As she does, she catches Tim's horrified glance with one of her own. Okay cool so she's not the only one who thinks this is totally fucked, great!]
Alright alright, we're just gonna-- we're gonna go take a nice long walk on the beach! How about that! [She announces loudly, voice booming over the din of Chara's unhinged laughter to drown out any other shit they're gonna regret later. It's awkward as hell, this half shuffling, half hauling them away, but finally there's some slowly increasing distance between the kids.] Time to go off on some fucking sand I guess! Bye!!

[Tim compresses them against his chest so hard that it's hard for them to breathe, hard like the tacky pull of flower-sap, like bones caging them down with speared tips. Nothing hurts as badly as Chara's words. None of it is new, but all of it means more.]

Lup more or less has to drag Chara away, and for once, he can be grateful, stupidly and selfishly grateful, that there's someone here to slam the fucking brakes on, someone that both the kids seem to like and trust well enough, present circumstances notwithstanding. Someone they seem to like willingly, and not out of convenience, not because it was yoked over their souls.]
[It's only once Lup has left with Chara in tow that Tim lets his grip go slack. Lets them go.]

It's Tim, some part of them supplies, and it calms a part of them that wants to keep swinging -- instead they push violently away from him, not realizing he's already let them go, and grab their wrist, bringing it close to their chest.]

[They step back again, but there's a distance in their voice that hadn't been there before, like the negatory isn't exactly an answer to Tim's concern. Unclenching their bloodied fist, they extend it out in front of them, vaguely, staring at the space between them and Tim as though -- there might be something there. As though there might be something they can touch.]
[Their hand closes.]
[But nothing happened.]
[Frisk gives a sharp little intake of breath, and there's a burst of scattered light that brightens over their sweater, similar to a sparkplug spitting and dying. Finally they look to Tim again, and their gaze is steady; if blank.]

[He's spat on the equilibrium. He's upset the balance, just by interfering when he did. Can't just live and let live anymore; he cut into the middle of an argument that had nothing to do with him, and that's going to recontextualize everything he does from that point on. He can't just be the idle observer, the cover story, the fly on the wall.]
[He lost that right when he intervened.]

[Closer pieces lock in, the more recent memories of a dark and dusty room of some other world's ruin. Tim. Like almost nobody else ever had before.]

[Frisk looks at him, and feels the staunch line of their mouth crumple, and their eyes stinging, because...]

[There it is again: that jag in his guts, that curling up of an instinct he wasn't aware still existed, a festering den of live coals that's every hand he's never held and every hug he's never had and every pant leg he never got to cling to. That urge to offer what was never offered to him. They can be an implacable wall, an impossible and irrevocable fucking weight of red-hot iron and immovability, small and compact like a black hole.]

Nobody's ever stopped them like this before. Not even people who were supposed to. Not Asgore, not Toriel, not Sans. What the hell are they supposed to do with this? What do they do when someone actually stops them from doing something bad?]

Their eyes are a sharp red against the dark flush of their face, but the confusion in their brows is unmistakable, as calm and fragile as the kid in the back of the class who doesn't understand the question they've just been called on to answer.]
[When? Has that ever even happened? As long as they can remember, before the grooves of the knife hilt became familiar, when it was a stick, a glove, a frying pan. Fire - spears - bones - dust - wait. Wait, wait. Bones. Not ones washed in golden light, but - they do. They do know, and they respond with a shallow croak, like they're not sure the answer is the right one.]
