I Think I Got Too Many Memories Getting In The Way Of Me
Who: Anyone willing to deal with an armed, violent-prone child having a tantrum
What: Chara's horrible, no good, very bad day. Someone's getting stabbed! Potentially multiple people! Someone's getting punched in the face! Potentially multiple people!
When: 11th to the 13th of April
Where: everywhere
Warnings: violence, stabbings, generally please don't tag into this if you're not into your character being physically or verbally attacked f-ff
11th - Even At The Best Of Times I'm Out Of My Mind | Islet One
They aren't the type of child who seeks out others, when something happens. Something awful, something utterly out of their control. They do not want to talk about it. They will not cry, nor sulk. There will be very few, if history has proven anything, who will even realize they have been slighted in some way at all.
And then there are those who are on island one when Chara walks up to that now empty abode. And perhaps, they will also not realize that anything is out of the norm-- but they'll certainly take stock of the suddenly flaming knife in their hand, the very same one that embeds itself in the cottage with four, additional rooms added to it, the one with no owner.
The knife, still on fire, remains embedded in now smoking wood. Calmly, Chara takes out a second knife.
And up in flames that one goes, as well.
11-13th - You Only Get What You Grieve | E4
According to some, setting houses on fire is not a healthy outlet for stress.
Which, realistically, is probably fair. The solution to this problem is not to stab inanimate objects, no sir. So how about some animate ones, instead?
The fact that the centipuppies are kind of cute doesn't mitigate the issues they cause- a pack of the creatures could go after a singular target with ease. A cute nuisance. A potentially dangerous nuisance. There would likely be one or two people not too keen on the burning carcasses they've left strewn about the place, but centipuppies aren't docile. They're not a rare creature upon Enso, either; ridding the beach of a single pack isn't problematic at all.
Not even slightly.
If anything, the ordeal becomings something of a mind numbing task, child walking up and down the stretch of the beach, watching out for stragglers. For the next two days, it's all they're going to do. Walk. Wait. And when the situation calls for it
Lash out.
13th, closed to Frisk, Lup, and Tim - Are You Smelling That Shit? | Islet 3
[Their flowers are wilted.
Three days without attention, and Chara should have expected this, really. It's not as if the plants themselves are going to die; they're sturdy enough to take a bit of thirst, a slight amount of burn at the edges of their petals from a harsh sun. The majority of them will love; there are even more shoots to grow, ready to take the place of those that won't.
But there are those that won't.
Frowning critically, Chara considers- the various things they could and should be doing, at this point. Carefully pruning the leaves and picking off the wilted buds, mixing the earth with some more most soil. Watering them all. It's a sizeable enough patch now that it should take a few hours for just the one person- plenty enough to keep them moving until they're tired, ready to find... perhaps ready to collapse into their hammock, after a few days of sleeping outside.
And yet, they don't move just yet. There's so much to do here- and moreso, if they would pay attention to anything else. They haven't been looking for food, the past few days. Haven't been collecting resources to trade with Lup and Taako. Haven't been to the new island past a brief, cursory look; the familiar, tell-tale itch of curiosity absent. Haven't spoken to Frisk or Tim since he-- since this started. There is a great deal to do.
They don't move just yet.]

Then-]
A moment, if you please.
[Even if he can't see it, the sound of knives being ripped out of wood is telling- they can't imagine this training comes without a few conditions, one of which is undoubtedly not leaving a house to burn unattended.
They can come back to it later. Finish the job.
They need their knives now.]
no subject
Does Chara.exe need rebooting? LOL!Ignis actually isn't thinking about conditions right now. In fact, as long as the fire doesn't burn beyond the shack itself, he will let Kidwun get whatever catharsis they need out of it. It's not as if burning really ruins the run down accommodations they have all that much more than they are already ruined.
He nods when Kidwun finally speaks, slipping his hands into his pockets as he waits for them to join him. There is a small pile of lumber he and Prompto have gathered for renovations. A few pieces should serve as good targets for today's lessons.]
I take it you approve of this task?
no subject
They're 11 and you're offering to teach them to kick knives sue them]It is acceptable, yes. [It's literally the first thing that's inspired any sense of interest or excitement in the past four days, but they're not about to share their new, secret desire to knife kick an enemy to death like a shounen protag, thanks Ignis. They return to his side promptly, looking up to him with an expression that betrays a keen sense of interest-
Or, would.]
Do you have a location in mind for this?
no subject
We've been attempting some renovations, Prompto and I, but neither of us are exactly the building types. I see no reason why we can't repurpose some of the wood we've gathered to be targets. If we line them against the side of the cottage, then there is little chance of anyone getting caught by a miss.
[Not that they will start off with the kicking right away. There are a few things that must be worked out first, but it never hurts to let a new student take a few practice kicks just to see how hard it actually is in the beginning.]
Timing and consistency are the first things we'll need to focus on. It's not much fun, but I dare say the end result is worth it.
no subject
At least they're not foolish enough to think they won't be.]
That is fine. Will prior knowledge of tactical knife fighting be of any use, to this?
no subject
[Ignis figures it can't hurt to get some of the theory out of the way as they walk back to the cottage. That way once they arrive, they can get right down to business.]
Part one is the initial knife throw. This is where your familiarity will help because you will need to learn to throw your blade up at the same speed and with the same amount of strength repeatedly, so that once you learn to time your spin kick accurately, the blade will always be where you expect it to be when you come back around to it.
Does that make sense?
no subject
They can work with that.]
At the least, I can throw a knife- perfecting force and timing is another matter entirely. [Chara purses their lips.] As is the spin kick. I have no experience in that area.
no subject
[Once they arrive at the cottage, Ignis orients himself and then leads them over to the pile of wood he mentioned before.]
Would you mind selecting a couple medium-sized pieces that look as though they will prop against the wall without too much trouble?
[Request made, he shifts back to the previous topic.]
Learning the kick will give us an idea of how much time your knife throw will have to get the knife into the correct position. It will be easier to adjust the timing on the throw than the kick. At least, it was in my experience.
no subject
I trust your judgment, sir. Is there a particular stance I should be mindful of taking when attempting these?
[Stance and grip had been one of the first things they'd had to correct when learning how to wield a knife properly- it simply stands to reason that it would be one of the first things to account for here, as well.]
no subject
[Ignis waits while Kidwun sets up the wood. Only once that is done, does he summon his own dagger to hand.]
Normally, I would ask you to show me the stance you usually use, however, that's not going to be of much use to me now. I'm going to do this as slowly as I can so you can look at my stance and positioning as I do it. Ask any questions that come to mind.
[He flips the dagger then, settling it in his hand to make ready for the throw. Once that is done, Ignis falls into his own starting stance.]
My hold on the dagger is really relaxed right now, as is the rest of my body. Tensing up will only slow you down, as you may guess.
no subject
Could you raise your hand? I would like to confirm how you're holding it.
no subject
[Ignis does as requested, rotating his wrist just slightly so that his grip is easier to see. As he waits for Kidwun to let him know they're done looking, he speaks a little more on the general usefulness of the technique.]
Even with perfect vision, there is no way to be as precise with a kicked blade as a thrown one. Really, this more about intimidating an opponent that is smart enough to feel such a thing or distracting one that isn't. If I'm going to do this, I do it at the beginning of battle or only when I am a fair distance from my target. That plus the fact that you can't aim as well with a kicked blade, means you should always aim for the largest part of your target. Chest over wrist on a human, for example.
no subject
Understood, thank you. I believe I understand the hold. [And as he lowers his arm:] Will any style of knife do, or are some preferable over others?
no subject
A blade that is good for kicking is going to be very similar to a blade good for throwing since they are both doing the same thing, just being propelled in different manners. You are going to want something well balanced with the weight slightly toward the tip, aerodynamic, but most importantly something you're familiar with. I've found an imperfect blade can be just as deadly as a perfect one in the hands of one who knows its quirks.
no subject
Understood. [Then a hunting knife would be fine for practice. Maybe in future they'd be competent enough to demonstrate for Lup with the knife she'd made them...
If anyone would get a kick out of this, she would.]
Perhaps a demonstration of the whole action, to begin with?
no subject
Certainly. Talking can only get us so far in things like this.
[And then, he is just going to set himself and do exactly this. So easy, so smooth. What a show off.]
no subject
Holy shit. They're going to learn that. LOOK MA, NO HANDS!!!!]
Very nice. [Chara says, with only the mildest approval.
Extremely. Mild.]
no subject
A proud, and perhaps just slightly smug, look crosses Ignis' face. Kidwun's reaction is subdued, but it's still a reaction from a normally stoic person.]
Would you like to see it again or do you want to try for yourself?
no subject
[Look. They're usually very hard to impress. It's a compliment.]
no subject
Of course. I'll go a little slower this time. Tell me if there is a specific part you wish to focus on once I'm done.
[Stand back a watch, here comes round two!]
I figure this is a good place to leave this off I just really wanted to tag it fff
...Which means it's- okay. They suppose. Tucking their own knife away for the meantime, Chara mentally prepares for weeks of looking like a complete fool- probably more. It will be worth it, eventually.]
Thank you. I am ready to begin.
[Give them hell, Iggy.]
