FEBRUARY EVENT: JUST ONE MIST-AKE

Who: Everyone who ends up on the floating islands
What: February's event
When: February 15th to February 20th
Where: The floating islands above Ensō
Warnings: Mark as needed!

Sky High

Those curious floating landmasses far above Ensō have only grown more prominent in the coming days. Whether you've chosen to explore the islands purposefully or have ended up there via a mana pool malfunction, you'll doubtless discover their unique properties soon enough. You might even take advantage of their impressionable nature to mold them to your own desires, shaping pieces of the places you once knew, or maybe a place you wish you could be.

Either way, the repercussions to using the floating islands as your modeling clay will be evident by the time midnight rolls around, each night, and the islands impose a regular reset cycle to wipe away whatever changes have taken place, including that peculiar, almost volcanic texture that seems to affect the lands sculpted by your mentality. Just make sure you're not caught outside the depressions in the shape of mana pools centered on each island, lest you bear some unpleasant consequences for a day.

But of course, it's not all doom and gloom. It's quite the opposite, in fact. If there's something you've been wanting, simple or complex, something that has been making its way into the texture of your thoughts with a frequency that's almost noteworthy, the islands will attempt to see to it that this wish of yours, this yearning, is satisfied in some way or another. Some of the effects will be temporary. Some won't.

Regardless, at some point during the event, if your character visits the islands, the possibility is there.

Event Timeline

[ ♆ ] February 15th: The floating islands appear
[ ♆ ] February 16th: The mana pools begin malfunctioning, and characters begin ending up on the floating islands
[ ♆ ] February 20th: Monthly Storytelling occurs, along with a vote as to the next land adventurers will brave. Upon waking, the Storyteller returns everyone to Ensō, and shrouds the islands in cloud once more

What did she just fucking think about all the shit that's been happening up here and how this lil chat is way better? Did he have to go and fucking blow it?? She may be a prankster goddess and this particular double whammy was defs to die for but come on!! Not like this you dumbass!!

Lup jumps to her feet like that fire was lit under her ass and not his, screeching a sharp and super offended, "What the fuck?!" Offended because she was literally just starting to calm down! This isn't the time for self-immolation!

But of course she doesn't waste any time on wondering what the hell is happening, if this is more floating rock horseshit or just? something he does?? like is he a mage or what?? Nah, if there's one thing Lup knows how to deal with, it's fire. In an instant, her umbrella is up and pointed at him and a powerful Gust of Wind envelops him completely.

It's very good at putting out fires.

It also pushes the target back several feet if he doesn't have a previously unknown dank Strength stat?

Hope you're not too close to the edge, asshole.

Off he fuckin flies.

Ichimatsu must catch a good tailwind, because as the gust snuffs out the fire in a clean snap, he's thrown from the rock for a good six or so feet, landing on his back with a thud the way a literal sack of bricks might. Splayed supine on the dirt, Ichimatsu remains completely unmoving.

... for a few seconds, at least.

Because then he blinks up at the sky, his hair and clothes singed, but there doesn't seem to be a single burn on him. Nor does he seem to be all that distressed at having been on fire and then thrown a couple yards. He has the decency to sound a bit sheepish, though, when he says loudly:

"A-ah... I got kinda jealous for a minute. Of Shittymatsu.... ? I'd rather die."

Well Lup's distressed enough for both of them, thanks! She stomps over to him, more than a little relieved to hear he at least didn't fucking beef it right there. At least she's not fucking alone again.

Still gonna shout at him though.

"Good news, you almost fucking did, asshole!" She glares down at him, hair and ears ruffled to the max and good hand set at her hip. It may be obvious once again that she's had better days.

"Or are you just a fucking like, human mood ring? You a lich or something?" She pokes him in the side with the tip of her umbrella, but it doesn't seem hungry or otherwise react to any magic vibes. "I love a good lightshow more than you know but that's the-- hey what's your name, broski? Dipshitmatsu?"

He just sort of lies there like a limp vegetable as she pokes him, his eyebrows twitching in discomfort. He has no idea what she's talking about (what's a litch??), but the hand on her hip is incredibly reminiscent of his brother Choromatsu's scolding ways, and he's often found that the best way to avoid the upgrade to full-out wrath is to... accept it.

Which he does, up until she calls him Dipshitmatsu. It's not that he's all that insulted, but that's just a little too close to his nickname for Karamatsu for him to handle; he sits up abruptly, scowling, as if tasting something foul.

"No, none of that stuff. Just trash." He reaches up a hand to pat out his still-simmering cowlick and furrows his eyebrows at her. "I'm Ichimatsu. Don't confuse me with those two morons."

'Just trash' he says, like that clarifies literally anything. Whatever, she's actually kind of really winded after the whole thing; did she mention how much she doesn't wanna be doing any of this right now? She'll figure out his deal some other time.

"Okay, don't act like a moron and I won't," she bites back, though she's visibly running out of steam and stiffly shuffles back to her rock with her umbrella's assistance.

"I'm Lup. Anyway don't be too jealous of your brother, Taako's not that great a catch." Dragging Taako kind of just happens on autopilot, but her heart isn't in it. Probably because she really misses him right now, the constant unrelenting feeling of everybody, of him being gone for good still wearing her down.

Ichimatsu, on the other hand, decides to stay sitting on the ground. He draws his knees up and exhales loudly through his nose in something that sounds just short of a snort, but in reality, he's just trying to dispel his lingering irritation at his brother. The jury's still out on whether he'll ever see Karamatsu again... but if he does, that glittering salt lick is in for it.

He doesn't really believe her, either, about her brother not being a catch. Again, none of the Matsunos have really ever gone for guys -- but Ichimatsu doubts any of them would be all that opposed to it if the situation came up. As far as he's concerned, Karamatsu made off like a bandit. And considering Karamatsu mistook the guy for her?

"... not if he's that pretty..." Ichimatsu's eyes slide away and his face burns, hoping he hadn't murmured too loudly. "... a-anyway, it's your brother that got the shitty end of that prank. You're lucky Karamatsu went home. Otherwise he might have seriously fallen in love with the guy."
