February Event: Just One Mist-ake

FEBRUARY EVENT: JUST ONE MIST-AKE
Who: Everyone who ends up on the floating islands
What: February's event
When: February 15th to February 20th
Where: The floating islands above Ensō
Warnings: Mark as needed!
Sky High

Those curious floating landmasses far above Ensō have only grown more prominent in the coming days. Whether you've chosen to explore the islands purposefully or have ended up there via a mana pool malfunction, you'll doubtless discover their unique properties soon enough. You might even take advantage of their impressionable nature to mold them to your own desires, shaping pieces of the places you once knew, or maybe a place you wish you could be.

Either way, the repercussions to using the floating islands as your modeling clay will be evident by the time midnight rolls around, each night, and the islands impose a regular reset cycle to wipe away whatever changes have taken place, including that peculiar, almost volcanic texture that seems to affect the lands sculpted by your mentality. Just make sure you're not caught outside the depressions in the shape of mana pools centered on each island, lest you bear some unpleasant consequences for a day.

If you haven't signed up for a Reset Penalty and wish to, you can still do so here!
Check Your Wishlist

But of course, it's not all doom and gloom. It's quite the opposite, in fact. If there's something you've been wanting, simple or complex, something that has been making its way into the texture of your thoughts with a frequency that's almost noteworthy, the islands will attempt to see to it that this wish of yours, this yearning, is satisfied in some way or another. Some of the effects will be temporary. Some won't.

Regardless, at some point during the event, if your character visits the islands, the possibility is there.

If you're interested in a Wish Request, let us know here! Remember that filling out this form is required if you want to take advantage of the islands' "giving" nature.
Event Timeline
[ ♆ ] February 15th: The floating islands appear
[ ♆ ] February 16th: The mana pools begin malfunctioning, and characters begin ending up on the floating islands
[ ♆ ] February 20th: Monthly Storytelling occurs, along with a vote as to the next land adventurers will brave. Upon waking, the Storyteller returns everyone to Ensō, and shrouds the islands in cloud once more

People who want to hurt you for personal gain.

[How's that for a definition, Brittanica?]

[He gets it when Chara explains and then thinks about the context that they used that word.

Wait...]

Did the humans think the monsters were bad guys without asking?

[Is that it?]

He can be taught. [Good job, Seto. A+. Gold star.]

Indeed, the humans assumed the monsters were dangerous. Isn't it ironic that the only way for them to be free was to become the very danger the humans so feared?

Why, it's almost as if some of them knew they weren't evil, but wanted them gone anyway.

[It is sad in both cases - the humans assuming the monsters were bad so nobody could be friends and the monsters having to become..well, monsters to be free again.]

Was it because the monsters were different? Is that why the humans wanted them gone?

[He's trying to figure this out. Because it honestly sounds like the humans were being dumb.]
achievementhunter: (haha good lord you're boring)

It seems like a possibility, doesn't it? Because the humans were afraid? Because they wanted the monsters out of the way-- why. Land? Resources?

This story occurred a very long time ago. There are very few people who may have been around to hear the truth.

[And none of them are here. Chara looks at Seto assessingly, moving closer to crouch down at the edge of the stream.]

Thus, we theorize. Guess.

What do you think? Why would the humans condremn an innocent race?

[Seto is silent for awhile, thinking as hard as he can. It's sounding more and more like this was a real story and Chara basically confirms it.

So...]

I think...maybe they didn't have the words to talk about things. They were thinking with their hearts only.

[And he knows that sometimes people's hearts don't always line up with the things they wanted to say. They're not two lines drawn side by side but a ball of tangled string. You can untangle it eventually but sometimes it takes a long time.]

And....maybe they didn't want to use words.

[It sounds like they didn't try at all.]
achievementhunter: (eh what's the prob bob)

[He really is thinking it over, isn't he? His response to their eyes is a true shame- they would have enjoyed pushing his intellect into expanding.]

That's certainly one option, yes. Thought I would argue that some weren't thinking with their hearts at all- their wallets, most certainly.

[Humanity is selfish, after all. If any emotion was going to trigger the eradication of monsters, greed seemed the most obvious choice.]

[Seto makes a face at that. While money wasn't much of an issue in his world - unless he was dealing with a certain chicken merchant - he couldn't fathom the idea of hurting someone just for it.]

But that's dumb!

[Sorry but he literally has no other words for it.]

Why would you hurt someone for money?
achievementhunter: (♥ But you- oh)

[personal profile] achievementhunter 2018-06-17 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[A laugh.]

Humans are dumb; I don't know what else you expected. You see, monsters are made very differently from us- composed entirely from love, hope, and compassion. Humans, however...

Why, we don't need any of those things to survive, do we?

[Again, Seto needs a second to think. Evidently while he has some good ideas, expressing them with words is harder for him.]

I think we do. It's...lonely without those things.

[He met one person who was without love. Shin was only 'okay' once Sai told him how she felt. That - along with Seto physically having to stop the man - was enough to put his ghost to rest.

And...maybe humans felt more emotions then they knew what to do with.]
