FEBRUARY EVENT: JUST ONE MIST-AKE

Who: Everyone who ends up on the floating islands
What: February's event
When: February 15th to February 20th
Where: The floating islands above Ensō
Warnings: Mark as needed!

Sky High

Those curious floating landmasses far above Ensō have only grown more prominent in the coming days. Whether you've chosen to explore the islands purposefully or have ended up there via a mana pool malfunction, you'll doubtless discover their unique properties soon enough. You might even take advantage of their impressionable nature to mold them to your own desires, shaping pieces of the places you once knew, or maybe a place you wish you could be.

Either way, the repercussions to using the floating islands as your modeling clay will be evident by the time midnight rolls around, each night, and the islands impose a regular reset cycle to wipe away whatever changes have taken place, including that peculiar, almost volcanic texture that seems to affect the lands sculpted by your mentality. Just make sure you're not caught outside the depressions in the shape of mana pools centered on each island, lest you bear some unpleasant consequences for a day.

But of course, it's not all doom and gloom. It's quite the opposite, in fact. If there's something you've been wanting, simple or complex, something that has been making its way into the texture of your thoughts with a frequency that's almost noteworthy, the islands will attempt to see to it that this wish of yours, this yearning, is satisfied in some way or another. Some of the effects will be temporary. Some won't.

Regardless, at some point during the event, if your character visits the islands, the possibility is there.

Event Timeline

[ ♆ ] February 15th: The floating islands appear
[ ♆ ] February 16th: The mana pools begin malfunctioning, and characters begin ending up on the floating islands
[ ♆ ] February 20th: Monthly Storytelling occurs, along with a vote as to the next land adventurers will brave. Upon waking, the Storyteller returns everyone to Ensō, and shrouds the islands in cloud once more

[Honestly Seto doesn't know. While his Grandpa taught him various things Seto didn't know much about him personally and some of what he did know were guesses. He liked the stars and he liked writing those complicated notes, but anything farther then that Seto didn't know.

But the view from the tower was nice. And maybe his Grandpa would be happy to be around the elves just like Seto and Ren were.]

Yeah, I think so. He could see the stars from there too.

We could cover the whole page in them.

[True to her terrible defacing word, she begins to cover every inch of the 'sky' with twinkling little stars. Each corner is touching the one next to it. What a great 'thank you' gift.]

And the next page too. We can make a big moon and draw him on it.

[Or you think he would, since Seto's Grandpa lived in a place where you could view the moon and the stars.]

[It makes her happy to hear the praise. It's not unexpected from him-he's always supported her artistic endeavors and she's grateful for it.]

You're good at this too. It's going to be a very pretty book.

[If it makes Ren happy, he'll generally encourage it. Seto only has guesses as to what her life was like before they met but he doesn't think she was happy.]

Yeah, I think it will. It's nice when they have happy endings for everyone.

[A happy ending isn't the cards for her and she knows that, but her life now is the best it has ever been. That's all she can ask for. And for someone like the boy, who's going to live for a long time surrounded by people who love him as much as his grandpa did-

She starts to doodle his image up in the stars.]

You'll have one too.

[It's a bit of a tight squeeze, but Seto is going to draw Crow, Lup and Taako up there to.

And Ren herself. Always.]

You too Ren.

[That's all he wants in the end. For Ren and Crow, for everyone Seto's met on this island...he'd be happy if they had a good end to their stories. That's all it takes.

An ending where everyone lives happily ever after.]

[That earnest kindness is something she's come to expect from Seto. The formation of the people who have a place in her heart, their heart, slowly forming in the stars is an undeniable testament to that. And among them, Ren starts to doodle others-Guzma, Magnus, Kidwun, Tim, Drifter, Ichimatsu, Luna. If they don't fit in the sky, she draws stars around them on the ground, by the dwarfs. Wherever her grubby little fingers can fit them among the pages, she does.

But his words shake her in a strange way. You too, like he's so overwhelmed with happiness, that he forgot her time was limited.

He wouldn't forget something like that, she's sure. It's a simple reminder from him, saying that she can hold onto the warmth she's found here when she passes away, unlike so many people in their world. She's going to happy when her ending comes.

And for once, she wishes her story didn't have to be so short.]
