FEBRUARY EVENT: JUST ONE MIST-AKE

Who: Everyone who ends up on the floating islands
What: February's event
When: February 15th to February 20th
Where: The floating islands above Ensō
Warnings: Mark as needed!

Sky High

Those curious floating landmasses far above Ensō have only grown more prominent in the coming days. Whether you've chosen to explore the islands purposefully or have ended up there via a mana pool malfunction, you'll doubtless discover their unique properties soon enough. You might even take advantage of their impressionable nature to mold them to your own desires, shaping pieces of the places you once knew, or maybe a place you wish you could be.

Either way, the repercussions to using the floating islands as your modeling clay will be evident by the time midnight rolls around, each night, and the islands impose a regular reset cycle to wipe away whatever changes have taken place, including that peculiar, almost volcanic texture that seems to affect the lands sculpted by your mentality. Just make sure you're not caught outside the depressions in the shape of mana pools centered on each island, lest you bear some unpleasant consequences for a day.

But of course, it's not all doom and gloom. It's quite the opposite, in fact. If there's something you've been wanting, simple or complex, something that has been making its way into the texture of your thoughts with a frequency that's almost noteworthy, the islands will attempt to see to it that this wish of yours, this yearning, is satisfied in some way or another. Some of the effects will be temporary. Some won't.

Regardless, at some point during the event, if your character visits the islands, the possibility is there.

Event Timeline

[ ♆ ] February 15th: The floating islands appear
[ ♆ ] February 16th: The mana pools begin malfunctioning, and characters begin ending up on the floating islands
[ ♆ ] February 20th: Monthly Storytelling occurs, along with a vote as to the next land adventurers will brave. Upon waking, the Storyteller returns everyone to Ensō, and shrouds the islands in cloud once more

[He would not know, exactly, the details of what it is he asks. How being careful has not suited them in the past, and so they have not adhered to that standard very nicely. They have rushed into things. They have been torn asunder, time and time again. They have sought to purge the illness saturating their lungs from every nerveless nerve end and, in the process, nearly defeated the purpose of such an endeavor by seeing themself stained across the ground.]

[It is only due to the grace of gods that they are still here.]

[They draw back the hem of their cloak and pat the red handle attached at their belt. The hard light blade has not been ignited, but the fact that it is a weapon may still yet be evident.]

[It doesn't click, not immediately, that it's a weapon. Seto's choice in 'weapons' were simple things - sticks, iron pipes, butterfly nets...whatever he could get his hands on to defend himself with.

[A firm nod of assent, and they let the fabric of their cloak fall back across the jolt of the weapon, concealing it once more.]

[Yeah, there's nobody else that the Drifter could be talking about right now.]

Ren's on the island too. It's a pretty cool place.

[He's never been this high up, even on Tokyo Tower, for example.]

[It takes a second but eventually it clicks. Oh yeah. Specifics. He can't go with 'the place with the thing' anymore.]

Heheh, sorry. This island.

[This particular one?]

[Their gaze immediately starts to rove in search of her. One can never know how dangerous it might be for a child to wander in places like these unsupervised. Ren may be capable enough to have lasted as long as she did, but allowing one's attention to lapse merely invites trouble.]

[Help them look????]

[Yeah. It's not like Seto was any better about staying in one place but Ren wandered a lot. Still, she was good at hiding so he's confident she could hide until he found her.

Do you want to look for her together?

[They require barely a moment's consideration before their chin bobs in a nod. Certainly, they would. It would be best to make sure that she is not in any danger - the titan, after all, may not be the only ghost of cruelty past lingering in this place.]

Okay then, let's go find Ren.

[Seto will hold out his hand for the Drifter to take, if they want to. He's not going to insist on it if it's something they're uncomfortable with.]
