FEBRUARY EVENT: JUST ONE MIST-AKE

Who: Everyone who ends up on the floating islands
What: February's event
When: February 15th to February 20th
Where: The floating islands above Ensō
Warnings: Mark as needed!

Sky High

Those curious floating landmasses far above Ensō have only grown more prominent in the coming days. Whether you've chosen to explore the islands purposefully or have ended up there via a mana pool malfunction, you'll doubtless discover their unique properties soon enough. You might even take advantage of their impressionable nature to mold them to your own desires, shaping pieces of the places you once knew, or maybe a place you wish you could be.

Either way, the repercussions to using the floating islands as your modeling clay will be evident by the time midnight rolls around, each night, and the islands impose a regular reset cycle to wipe away whatever changes have taken place, including that peculiar, almost volcanic texture that seems to affect the lands sculpted by your mentality. Just make sure you're not caught outside the depressions in the shape of mana pools centered on each island, lest you bear some unpleasant consequences for a day.

But of course, it's not all doom and gloom. It's quite the opposite, in fact. If there's something you've been wanting, simple or complex, something that has been making its way into the texture of your thoughts with a frequency that's almost noteworthy, the islands will attempt to see to it that this wish of yours, this yearning, is satisfied in some way or another. Some of the effects will be temporary. Some won't.

Regardless, at some point during the event, if your character visits the islands, the possibility is there.

Event Timeline

[ ♆ ] February 15th: The floating islands appear
[ ♆ ] February 16th: The mana pools begin malfunctioning, and characters begin ending up on the floating islands
[ ♆ ] February 20th: Monthly Storytelling occurs, along with a vote as to the next land adventurers will brave. Upon waking, the Storyteller returns everyone to Ensō, and shrouds the islands in cloud once more

You'd likely be freezing to death, honestly. Coerthas has been plunged into nonstop winter for the past five years.

[Camp Dragonhead is a place of... mixed memories for her. It was where Haurchefant had given them asylum after the disaster at the banquet, when all of them had nearly been arrested for crimes they didn't commit. ]

So what does it tell you, out of curiosity?

[He'd be dead for sure, especially if his body were as ill as it had been up until now. Still, that makes him stare in wonder even more, smiling back at Tataru once she questions that.]

Buildings like this must exist in a place during tense times where battles are common, right? Whether it's creatures like were down below or other people, there must always be someone to fight. It seems a harsh world indeed, between those implications and the way the wilderness seems to completely take over, no matter the structure that's built. These icy rocks are impressive.

[But, those are all guesses. It looks straight out of a fantasy book~.] Am I right or wrong?

You're right, on the whole. Whether it's against monsters, Primals, or the Garlean Empire, Eorzea certainly has seen more than its fair share of fighting lately.

[She sighs. It was honestly almost strange to be in a place like here, where the fights were - comparatively - few and far between. ]

Ishgard especially, until quite recently.

[In a way, his guess was a little unfair. Every place must have war, right? At least, he thinks so. Even his peaceful world where all he has to worry about is competition and business— even that has war, far away where he doesn't have to worry about it. Out of sight.]

The beauty isn't erased from a place like this, though. No matter if the region is harsh and the walls are stone and cold, it stands tall and proud, like a soldier. I find myself admiring it... is that strange?

No, I suppose it isn't.

[There is a kind of majesty to the walls, she supposes. Certainly a history - all of Ishgard was steeped in it. A very... colorful history, one could say, but a history nonetheless. The conviction of the knights in the intervening years - from the start of the Dragonsong War to its end - was not diminished by what Ishgards founders had done.

And it is different, seeing it with fresh eyes.]

I do admit to being a bit... awestruck by it all, when I saw it for the first time.

I suppose I never really thought of it like that, being able to see much of other's worlds.

[Unfortunately she can't... really... travel around all that much. She's not exactly the most acrobatic and jumping from that high up was... well. Terrifying.
