Who: Takane, Eichi, Shinobu & Kanata
What: They use their very valuable knapsack supplies to make a tin can phone
When: They've had this phone for too long, probably, but this will be 2/13
Where: Islet 2, Shack 3 and Shack 4 (and the mysterious fishing wire traveling between them)
Warnings: Nah
[It's certainly different living with two of the members of RYUSEITAI in a cramped shack clearly meant for two. Actually, to Eichi, it seems as though it's a dog house, dirt floor and cramped room. That sort of "quaint" feel makes it a little exciting, though, and he hasn't minded sleeping so close to the two. Shinobu is cute as always, trembling like a scared animal, and Kanata's irritation and forced politeness in an attempt to keep things safe for the former is just as endearing.
Then, there's their neighbor, Takane. She's a wonder who makes every scene her own stage, glowing like the moon and drawing people to her like waves. He's very curious about her, and though everything may be top secret, one thing that can help with that is communication.
So, here he is, picking up a tin pot that normally sits at the very edge of the house, a thin piece of fishing wire carefully strung through it and leading through an equally tiny hole in the very wall of this shack. It crosses right between their shacks and into Takane's, so hopefully no one on islet 2 tries to take any shortcuts between shacks.
It's the evening before Valentine's and Eichi is a little bored. Even with these two here, and so close, with the little space they have, it's not the same without Takane's pleasant voice. So, he takes it upon himself to pick up the "phone" and speak into it first.]
Shijou-san~. ♪ Are you there? You're there, aren't you, since it's so late? Did you know that this was also known as the "lover's phone?" Two lovers, connected by only a string from longer distances, speaking into the other's ears... you can easily imagine why it would be called so.
[Sorry, were Kanata and Shinobu in this room too?? Eichi just completely interrupted whatever deep and meaningful conversation they were having to semi-flirt like this, by the way.]

Takane kneels down to pick up the pot, and puts it to her ear. Ah, it was Eichi this time. Being the first person she had met upon being pulled to this new world, he carried somewhat of a lasting impression her. Though appearing gentle and polite, she could tell from their interactions that there was much more to him than meets the eye... Either way, she definitely saw him as an ideal to pursue, an example measuring the tall and distant summit she must climb for the sake of her mission.
After waiting a few moments to confirm it was her turn to speak, she places the tin pot close to her mouth. Her soft-spoken voice rings through his end of the tin pot, and despite her gentle tone, her words are clear. It’s almost as if they were part of a radio talk show.☆]
Yes, this is Takane Shijou. [So she says, as if it could be anyone else on this end of the fishing line.] You are indeed correct. It was a commonplace term used throughout the 19th century... Alternative names included “lovers’ telegraph” and “lovers’ string.”
[It’s not clear whether she was aware of the semi-flirting undertones of Eichi’s trivia, oblivious to it, simply indifferent, or some combination of the three when she imparts more useless but oddly related facts:]
Speaking of which, did you know that the term “red string of fate” originated from China...? Though it is commonly believed in Japan that the fates of soulmates are tethered together by the little finger, the original myth denotes that the string is wrapped around an ankle each. Furthermore, the one responsible for connecting the fates of couples with these red strings is the matchmaking god Yuè Xià Lǎorén, who is said to take the form of an old man that appears under the light of the moon...
[Who knew that a conversation between two bored rich kids would be so educational? And somehow, as expected, Takane finds a way to associate something like trivial like tin can phones with the moon.]
Though the bond we share is not quite as intimate, let it be known that I truly value and welcome our constant conversations very much, Tenshouin-sama. By the by, Kanata and Shinobu are there as well, yes? Please send them my regards.

Kanata cuts himself off in the middle of his extremely important, detailed explanation of how Shinobu should be looking to cuttlefish to further his ninja abilities and camouflage skills, as they are extremely clever and adaptable, and they would obviously be the perfect role model for him, and also they are so cute, but-- if he scoots back just enough with Shinobu in his lap, he can sort of squeeze next to Eichi instead, who now has the phone up to his ear. ]
Koutei-san. [ His tone has done a complete 180 from speaking with his junior. Not that it isn't still airy and slow, but he's using that sternness he tends to reserve for when he has to scold Souma or something. ] Do not harass Takane "so late" in the evening.
[ And, actually, he's going to lean in and move the phone just enough to try and speak into it, ignoring the fact that he's very much in Eichi's personal space and talking right into his ear. ]
Takane~? Please excuse Koutei-san's rudeness.. it is "perfectly" fine to ignore him if he is being "a bother", okay~? Shinobu and I will "chop" him if he does not mind his manners.
[ You have to respect girls, Eichi Tenshouin!!! ]

And although Kanata was arguably one of the harder-to-converse-with Seniors, he wouldn't have minded if it was just him and his fellow RYUSEI Blue. In fact, it was the preferred situation to being close enough to the famed Emperor of Yumenosaki at all times that his feet and hands have brushed against the older boy's bottom more instances than he would have ever liked. By accident, of course. Accident!
On top of that, now he has interrupted a very intellectual conversation with words that should definitely not be spoken with two other people sitting right behind you.]
......
[Shinobu's eyes widen further with every jovial syllable, his face flushing a tint of pink as he looked to Kanata as if to ask, 'is this really happening, de gozaru?' However, Kanata has already moved into action, attempting to dethrone Eichi from his monarchy of the cup phone.]
............
[And now Shinobu's just starting to feel left out. In a matter of seconds he's squirmed his way next to Kanata, shouting so his voice could carry into the 'phone' as best as possible.]
My Lady! It is I, Shinobu Sengoku! I am here too! Um.. Hello? Is this thing on~...?

[He wonders if Takane even heard half of that conversation from them, with this complicated phone system, but chuckles nonetheless. Now he's leaning closer, trying to get in on this cute group bonding ♪ with his hands on each of their backs.]
Shijou-san~. You can hear now that they're present, yes? Like children, they grew jealous and snatched the phone away, so I can no longer hear a thing you're saying.

[Takane's voice is mysteriously clear the next time she speaks, no longer sounding muffled through the tin can. Actually, it doesn't seem like it's even coming from the tin can phone anymore? More like from behind the awkward cluster of Yumenosaki idols.
Sure enough, she's neatly seated on her knees under the doorway of their shack, prim and proper as if she had been there all this time. When??? Did she get there??? It's a secret! Actually, as soon as she realized the boys were clambering to talk to her on the phone they made, she eventually decided the most logical action was to not make this complicated and head over there herself.]
Kanata Shinkai. There is no need to chop Tenshouin-sama; just as I value exchanging words with you, I equally do so with him. And... Shinobu Sengoku. I am always cheering you on, so never worry yourself with whether or not I am aware of your presence, yes?
