When you've had to deal with a literal apocalypse every single year for a hundred years, a little battle for the sun isn't really gonna grind your gears that much. Sure, the elf twins are still nobly doing their part every day. Lup is keeping several small campfires going inside the temple ruins, as well as periodically blasting two large stone slabs in the main chamber with a Fireball - those babies radiate heat for hours afterwards. And Taako is graciously handing out truly delicious soup from a huge bowl to anyone who asks nicely. Island Walmart is still a thing too, the large scrawled sign declaring this month's name to be The Hot Spot. Looks like it was Lup's turn on the naming.

But they're also just kinda bored of the whole thing? Like, everyone's so focused on preparing, on gathering and planning and training. There's a place for that, and Lup is pretty psyched for the actual fighting, but this pall of doom and purpose that's fallen over the islands as heavily as the snow? Neither of them is here for that.

So anyone who makes their way up to the temple will not only find the usual warm respite from the freezing temperatures, but also - a ten foot tall ice sculpture of a majestic as fuck unicorn rearing on its hind legs. And a smaller one of a figure with long ears hiding its face in the crook of its elbow, arms pointing upwards do we have a single modern day character who knows what dabbing is. Off to the side in a clearing, there's a twenty foot circle of clear ice that's just begging to be skated on. Just don't admire the artwork for too long, or you're gonna get noscoped with a snowball by a pair of horrible winter goblins.

Dream pitching and actual pitching aren't the same, but she's had a chance to practice. And practice and practice and boy is she ready to toss this snowball right into his face.

Except he's moving too much!! And she, delighted, starts to chase after him, kinda defeating the purpose hitting him with the snowball, but she needs to close in.

AND THEN!! SHE THROWS!! Right for his back!! Will she hit him? Tune in for the next episode of island adventures.]

[ With all those spinning and stunts and shit, he keeps a vague notion of how close she is to him. You'd think he would've taken it easy with her, but...you know. Boy don't got the best attention span, and maybe also has an overactive competitive streak.

And yet, maybe, somehow, when he falters on a spine due to the difficult snowy terrain, she manages to hit him in the shoulder. Only about half to 1/3 of the snowball actually made contact, but, you know, it counts.]

Huh- [ And he seems actually surprised.]

[1/3 hit is still 1/3 success. She hit Magnus, he hit her and they played a great game of snowball. Incredible. Amazing. She throws her arms up in silent celebration of her victory.]

I almost couldn't hit you. You're very good at this game. This is your special talent.

[That's right, Mango. Running and throwing snow. That's his gift.]

We can throw them at Taako's hair-he'll look very pretty and then we can use everyone else for 'target practice.'

[ Magnus accidentally makes a tiny sound like someone who knows that this is a bad idea, and yet, the amusement of it all is definitely worth the risk.]

[Because he'll totally like that, as Magnus said, and she's totally on board to look for her uncle until the sun goes down. Hopefully, he's off hiding somewhere because if not, a rude child has a terrible surprise for him.]
