Follow me to the unknown [closed]
Who: Lup, Ren, Chara
What: A chill day out with part of the fam, also botany lessons
When: November 26th
Where: Enso, squares leading to F9
Warnings: someone's gonna bring up poisonous flowers eventually
It's been kind of eerie on the island, since like half the population fucked off to the new place pretty much instantly. Barely anyone's stopped by the store in the last few days, some of the islets are deserted, nobody's written on the Rock. She'd told the rabbit who was a dog at the time, hadn't she? There'd always be fools rushing in, if they get the choice.
She's no fool, obvs, and also not about to drag Taako into some fresh unknown hell. But that doesn't mean she's not starting to feel a bit underutilized. So she'd announced her intention to go exploring at breakfast, and Ren apparently had no urgent graffiti or hair styling appointments, so she'd asked to tag along. Now it's more of a stroll in the forest than a serious exploration, but that's honestly pretty sweet.
It's a nice day, sunny and still humid under the lush canopy, but not unbearably so. They're wandering vaguely South towards the stream there, maybe check out where that leads, but it doesn't matter that much. Just watching Ren flit about, picking flowers and checking for treasures under old tree trunks is kind of satisfying, and makes her impatience take a backseat to just enjoying herself. "You know I've been to an Animal Kingdom that was a lot like this? I mean, kinda more woodland than jungle, but you still couldn't see the forest for all those trees. Had to get directions from the squirrels more than once." She chuckles fondly at the memory. "Those little tykes figured out how to charge us, too."

Information about the new island was slow in coming in. Thus, they would not chance it. Where they went, Frisk would undoubtedly follow- and for now, it wasn't worth it. That didn't mean they weren't bored out of their skull, however; making stumbling upon Lup and Ren a rather pleasant surprise.
"There was an Animal Kingdom in my world, as well- but it was more of a tourist trap than a forest." Stepping out of the woodwork, they greet Lup and Ren with a smile.
"Greetings."
And a greeting.

"You know their language? The Mrmmmm?" She can't figure out how to replicate the weird, chittering noise they make, so it comes out like a bizarre sounding hum.
But there's another voice? A familiar one. One that distracts her from the arduous process of trying to copy squirrel noises and when they step out, a wide smile crosses Ren's face. "Greetings!"
no subject
In response to both of them, she lets out a series of high-pitched chattering noises along with some snuffling sounds. If you're inclined to believe Lup, it might comes across as some kind of squirrely greeting. Or is she full of shit? You decide.
"Whatcha doing out here? You're not spying on us, are ya?" Come on, tell her your secret forest missions.
no subject
Though Lup and Ren seem rather comfortable in each other’s presence. Perhaps they’re intruding...but a short conversation isn’t so harmful, right?
“I was looking to find more plants with the properties others have asked me to seek out. And I see you two have been seeking to communicate with the local fauna.”
no subject
"Only Lup knows their language. I can't talk like that." Tragedia. She can't even attempt to communicate with nature like her elf buddy here and slowly tears her eyes away from the forest, wiping the dirt from her grubby fingers on her pants. "Are you looking for quiet surprises? That kind of plant?"
no subject
"Well I dunno about quiet surprises," she says with a Look at Kidwun that seems to say what's the deal with that, dork? "But maybe you'll find some of those plants down by the river? You're welcome to join us and check it out."
no subject
"Well I don't have any loud surprises, so quiet ones will have to do. I was actually intending to head towards the river- if that is where you are heading, I would be remiss to lose out on such company."
Which means it's time to talk flowers, Ren. Flowers for days.
no subject
"You'll be safe with us," Or rather safe with Lup and/or her cat. Her? Not so much. "What's Kidwun's favorite color? We'll find that flower first."
no subject
"Ooh Ren's out here asking the important questions," she grins with an approving finger point and a pleased twitch of an ear. This afternoon is gonna be such a hoot and she's psyched. "We're gonna need to know what we're looking for, I mean." And not for any other, nosy reasons.
no subject
But they'll make do, briefly raising a hand to hide a snort behind, changing it to a cough at the last moment. Ren is far too endearing- and Lup far too perceptible not to notice the genuine crinkles of amusement at the corners of their eyes, the genuine smile aimed the girl's away as Chara responds to her first.
"My favorite colors are white and green, but I am partial to red and yellow, as well." They tell her; so that should cover the majority of flowers she can find. To Lup's more... productive query, there's a slightly different answer. "Any style of wheat that might be capable of being cultivated in farming- vegetables. A few medicinal plants that I have not seen, but know the features to identify."
no subject
Or maybe it can start the look.
While those hooligans talk about things like medicine and farming, Ren's gonna amble over to Kidwun's side and, if they don't move away, stick the blade of grass behind their ear. Perfect. Beautiful. This is gonna be great. "Does 'wheat' look pretty? Is that a flower too?"
no subject
But Lup will come through and save them from the indignity of being thought of as fucking adorable, instead letting out an appreciative whistle. "You know your way around medicinal plants? That's real handy out here."
no subject
"Not quite. It's more like grass, but long and yellow, with dozens of dry seeds at the end. It can be used to make things you eat." From one question to another- sometimes, being a tiny uptight little shit has its benefits. "I know my way around identifying plants. Use of them is something I'll leave to others more competent in that field."
no subject
And now that two brave peanuts have joined up, she feels safe enough to wander ahead. Only a few steps and definitely within eyesight and earshot, but she's ambling forward to see if there's a decent view of all these wild plants yet. Maybe she can weave pieces of wheat into the crown, if they find some. That would be dope. So dope she decides to bring out a single from Kidz Bop: Island and hum a little tune about dope wheat and jungle vibes as they walk along. Enjoy.
