CAMP SOLHEIM MINGLE
Who: You! And you! And possibly also you. (Anyone on Monsun)
What: The team moms have gotten the Storyteller to give you a present! It's... A giant tent. And a mana pool. Aren't you special.
When: Dec 3-4ish and on.
Where: Monsun, c3, desert side.
Warnings: It's a mingle warn yerselves.
The group at the river bend has been slowly growing over the last few days, and especially once new arrivals to the islands appear. The mana pool that's been discovered, at the far edge of the forest side of the island, is not exactly in the most helpful location. And that's putting aside the people who just won't go over to the forest at all (or really, really shouldn't, in Ardyn's case).
So, the more responsible members of the group took things into their own hands, and dumped all their favors into a pool... Quite literally.
The day after the new arrivals show up, anyone not immediately next to the fire pit will wake up under a tent that has more than enough room to sleep everyone. Colorful flaps hang from the tent ceiling, some triangular to support the poles and some square and rolled up that will give it actual walls against the elements should there be a need. Even the floor is a bit more covered with a rough red rug instead of just a dirt floor, and there are half a dozen large, worn floor pillows scattered about, none of which match.
Perhaps more relevant to some people, however, is the stone dais containing a mana pool on the far side of the fire, right up against the edge of the river.
Welcome to camp! Don't track sand on the rug.

Chocobo Egg? Chocobo Egg!
Why, it almost feels as if they are back on the road though Leide on their way to Galdin Quay. Ignis has even gotten used to hearing the sound of Prompto's camera in the background as the blonde gives into his natural inclination to photograph everything he can.
This day, he's not heard the shutter that much, though, and it worries him. What if Prompto's having issues with the camera again like he did during their first months here? It would crush him to have it stop working. Unsurprisingly, this worry soon sends Ignis off to find his friend just to make sure everything is okay.]

A soft shell full of joy
The promise of a feathery future
Every speckle like the freckles on Prompto's face
Not breakfast
Prompto noted how the egg wasn't quite the same size as the black chocobo egg they'd found. Then again, Ardyn's chocobo also seemed to start off smaller. Perhaps these were another breed of chocobos, slightly different from the ones on their world.
But, a chocobo was a chocobo.
As soon as he'd found the speckled egg sitting in a small pile of hay Prompto had sat down with it. He took a pic, of course. He watched it like it might hatch any second. It wasn't just that this was a chocobo. Prompto had always wanted a pet - and felt that joy for a short time with Pryna. His parents barely even had time for their son, so it was no great surprise that they weren't interested in having any pets and probably didn't trust him to take care of one.
So he sat on the ground with his legs crossed in front of it, trying to think of names. Trigger? Snapshot? Starshell? He needed to come up with the best name ever for the best chocobo ever.
He didn't realize how long he'd been sitting there when Ignis somehow snuck up on him. He jumped when the tip of a walking stick tapped the small of his back, just the slightest of squeaks escaping him as he noticed his surroundings. Leaning his head back, he looked up at Ignis, beaming. That's right, he hadn't told Ignis or Noctis about the egg yet!]
Iggy!
[Any worries about him being upset could be instantly washed away as soon as he spoke. On the contrary, he was full of pent up excitement.]
Dude, do you...
[...see it? He stopped himself. Of course he couldn't see it. As he untangled himself to stand up he made some scraping noises along the ground. He took Ignis' hands.]
Here, you need to get on your knees. Just be careful, it's fragile.
[He gently guided Ignis' hands towards the egg.]

[Okay, Prompto definitely has his attention. Ignis lets the blonde guide him as he has so many times before and finds himself startled with he feels the smooth shell beneath his thumbs. Fortunately, he takes Prompto's warning to heart and doesn't let that startled feeling translate into putting pressure on the shell.]
Is...this a chocobo egg? Where on earth did you find it?
no subject
[Hear that excitement, Iggy? He should expect no less.]
I asked Ardyn how come he gets a chocobo and we don't, and he said he asked the Storyteller for one. So I asked for one! A boy, because Ardyn's is a girl.
[Was he really thinking that far ahead? Not completely necessarily. Sure, there might have been a small thought of being able to breed chocobos in the future, but there was also just wanting to differentiate between the two and the simple old standard of wanting 'one of each'.]
Isn't that cool? All of us could ask for a chocobo!
Oh, and I asked for furniture, too. ...There's a cot now, if you ever need to lie down.
[Not very overwhelming.]
no subject
How wonderful for you! Though, I suppose it makes the thought of me asking the Storyteller for one for you a little redundant.
[Perhaps later he will ask for one for Noctis. Chocobos are social birds after all. As much as they may bond with their owners, they need others of their own kind around as well.]
I'm proud of you for thinking ahead. I'm sure this cot will come in very handy. Especially if someone is injured. It will be so much easier to keep them comfortable this way.
no subject
[Unbelievable. Not that he didn't trust Ignis! Noctis just always came first, and he wasn't expecting anything. It was nice to think that even if he hadn't been able to spend his favors on an egg that he still would have gotten one. It felt like things would have worked out good regardless.]
You should ask for a chocobo, too! And one for Noct. ...And Luna's gonna need one, huh?
[They were going to have to start their own chocobo post.
Despite circumstances, Prompto had only considered comfort over dealing with injuries. It was a shame Ignis couldn't see his smile, but he could likely hear it in his voice.]
I~ [He drew out the syllable] might not have thought of it quite that much. I just missed having a bed.
no subject
[Ignis smiles and then lightly bumps Prompto's shoulder.]
Hush now. You aren't suppose to tell me that part. Just take the compliment.
[And in typical Ignis fashion he is just not going to comment on getting anything for himself. Getting a chocobo for Noctis and Luna, though? That's a great idea.]
no subject
I mean, a bathtub and some curtains would be pretty cool...
[Even if they had to boil and slowly fill a tub with water, it had been months. An actual bath would feel amazing.
He settled down by the egg, legs crossed. When Ignis insisted he take the compliment, he let out a soft, amused huff.]
Well, when you put it that way, it was all part of the plan.
[It was nice. Not just having a chocobo egg, which was completely awesome, but being able to sit down and shoot the shit with a friend. Survival had taken up so much of their lives recently, and they were often being separated in times of disaster.]
Hey, if we all get chocobos, we could start our own chocobo post~!
no subject
[A smirk curls the corner of his mouth.]
You'll have to speak up if so. I'm afraid my hearing's not what it used to be since Altissia.
[Oh, for the Astrals' sakes, Ignis. Your hearing's only gotten stronger since then, not weaker.]
Starting a post wouldn't be too bad of an idea, though it will take some time. If eggs are all we can get, the birds will need both time to mature and to be trained to carry riders. The time saved crossing the island and moving supplies will be well worth the investment in the long run, I think. After all, it takes some time to cross the main island even now, and this one is perhaps a little smaller if I go by what I've heard so far. We have no guarantees that will be the way any newly appearing islands are. It can't hurt to think ahead about what will allow us to covers greater distances should the need arise.
no subject
[He knew that much. It was going to be hard to fool him with that when Ignis was constantly able to scold them when they were trying to be sneaky.]
I like this island better. I'd rather know stuff is trying to kill me than feel safe and get kidnapped at night. We should stay here and make a safehaven, and build like, a whole settlement. With shelter and food and water and chocobos! We can just bring everything we find here.
...I should bring my snowmobile, too.
no subject
[Ignis grins, leaning into Prompto's shoulder and chuckling, though at the mention of the snowmobile his expression drops a little.]
You haven't really had a chance to work on it have you? So much has been going on. It would be nice to get it running again.
[As for the settlement idea, considering how many favors he burned with the storyteller to get them what they have now, it should go without saying that he thinks it's a good idea.]
no subject
Nah, not much shops around here. But you never know. Maybe I can mod it in the future. If we ever get it going it'll be a big help.
Could even give you a lift, if you don't mind hanging onto someone while riding.
