November Adventure: The Good, The Bad, And The Dirty
NEW ISLAND: MONSUN
Who: Everyone!
What: Monsun appears, and a new adventure begins.
When: November 24th
Where: Across the islands!
Warnings: Tag as you go!

What: Monsun appears, and a new adventure begins.
When: November 24th
Where: Across the islands!
Warnings: Tag as you go!

I've Never Been Better- Or Worse
As per the Storyteller's advice, the morning of the 24th will find characters waking to the sight of land in the far distance; Monsun is now accessible for one-way travel. Your mission, should you choose to volunteer for it? Traverse to this new land, and locate the mana pool. All characters will be reminded on departure that they may not be capable of returning until they have, so pack wisely.
The land of Monsun, even from a distance, may strike travelers as a peculiar one. One half appears to be made up of lush, deciduous woodland entirely at odds with the coastal, tropical aesthetic that Ensō so boasts. The other half appears to be dry and bare, full of cracking cliffs and sandy wastelands. Indeed, once characters set foot on this new land, they will discover that this is precisely the case: the island is divided by a dark ribbon of water, an east side rich with life and a west side stark and rife with danger.
And yet, it isn't that simple.
Feeling prepared? Now is the time to make arrangements and collect what you'll need for the journey. Find companions, say goodbye to loved ones- and of course, take your first step forwards into new lands. Best of luck, adventurers.
You may need it.
Welcome to the new island of Monsun! As the island is now accessible, feel free to begin preparations and explorations in this log- or create new ones of your own! For further information in regards to the island, or plotting, the following links may prove handy:

Well, I don't want to assume too much without having encountered them myself, but if they are anything like what we have back home they will always be quicker than you think they will be. Much of the time, they will appear alone or in small groups, but every so often larger groups will gather. Those groups are especially dangerous for obvious reasons.
[A frown crosses his face when she mentions the other side of the river.]
It's probably best you haven't been over there. I was left there with a couple of others originally and made several trips back and forth between both sides of the river before I realized that the way I acted and thought shifted as I did so. After some consideration, I've realized whoever created this island, by cruel purpose or accident of design, has left us in quite the dilemma. This side of the island, barren as it is, brings out the best sides of us. Once you run into Ardyn--if you haven't already--you will see the difference in his behavior very clearly. The good man--the healer--he was in the past has the chance to shine through without the pain, rage and hate he's come to bear since dulling that light.
[He pauses then, turning his face toward the other side of the river. Ardyn shines now, but it wasn't that long ago Ignis found him snarling and howling like one of the very daemons that now make up his body. The memory is enough that he has to fight back a shiver.]
The other side of the island, bountiful in supplies brings out only our worst traits. Back home, people often joked about how much like a robot I can seem--focused, detached, efficient to a frightening degree. I never really understood why they felt that way until I came back to this side after spending far too long on the other.

[Her expression grows somber as Ignis explains, remembering her own encounter with the unfortunate daemon-carrier.]
It almost sounds like a test: which is more dangerous to you, wild nature or other people?
[She feels sympathy for him having had to deal with that, but she suspects he'd brush off her concern if she tried to fuss over him- they have that much in common.]
I think you may be right about it being better for me to remain on this side of the island, for now. You recall that my magic is emotion-based, and strengthened by positive emotions- the opposite also holds true. I don't know with certainty that the forest side would inspire enough negative emotion to cause problems for me, but better safe than sorry.

[After all, some people make their way through life constantly lying to themselves even when they would never consider lying to another.
Ignis finds himself nodding in agreement as she continues.]
I remember. It's one of the reasons I'm glad to hear you haven't been over there. The effect starts off slowly, but grows stronger as time passes. For you, it might seem like nothing at first, only to hit dangerously hard when you are too far away from the river to get back to safety. I agree. It's better you not risk yourself like that.

[Before her fight with Frisk, Muffet wouldn't have thought that she was capable of attempted murder. But even if it's not a pleasant thing to know about herself, she does know that now, and she won't turn away from the knowledge.]
Frustrating, not to be able to explore a new place in person, but I suppose sometimes prudence has to come first. Still, I wonder how much grows along the bank of the river? If worst comes to worst, I could try standing on the safe side and tossing a line or two of my magic across to try and haul useful things back over the boarder...
[Muffet. Muffet, no. Do not try to lasso a fruit tree over to plant in the desert side. No.]
no subject
Ignis. No!]
There is a fair amount near to the river. If you were paired with someone who wasn't affected quickly or could easily move back and forth between sides to avoid becoming affected...
[One person readies the plant, tree, or other supply for Muffet and then she brings it back across. It seems like it could be a very fruitful endeavor.]
no subject
Ooh, that does sound workable. I'm loathe to put anyone else in danger just to see if my plan would work, but if whoever was on the other side genuinely knew the risks and understood their limits well enough to avoid pushing themselves too far then it could prove to be a very bountiful harvest.
...Come to think of it, I could also just attach a line to the person themselves, have them pick up as much as they could carry, and pull them back across when they were done- length shouldn't be an issue, I can extend it as far as we need. That way I could go ahead and pull them out for safety's sake if they weren't back across the river within an agreed-upon time period.
[These two are actually considered the sensible ones. What is wrong with this island chain.]
no subject
There we go. An excellent solution to the problem if I do say so myself.
[Ignis rests his chin in one of his hands and gives her a grin. He should probably ask exactly what kind of line and how she will have the strength to pull a person with an armful of supplies back across, but if she says she can do it, he's going to believe her.]
No wandering off and if something goes wrong, a quick escape.
[This is a perfectly logical plan. Nothing can go wrong.]
no subject
[To be fair, she did say it was magic. It's not much weirder than other magical abilities he's probably run into at this point.]
Two quick tugs on the line ought to be a good way of signaling 'get me out of here right now' if I was out of earshot, I think. What kind of supplies do you think we'd get the most use out of, from what's over there?
