Ruins Mingle Log!
Who: Newt Geiszler
ohnehalfte and EVERYONE
What: So a bunch of people headed up towards the ruins, so they've got to all run into each other and start to congregate, right???
When: Evening of the mingle log and onwardish.
Where: The Ruins
Warnings: Um...same as the mingle log?

The beach curves up a gentle slope until it meets forest, some manner of building visible through the trees. Further exploration of this area will reveal a dilapidated building of sorts; the architecture is indiscernible to even the most skilled eye. Despite looking as if it has seen better days, there are areas that offer some form of shelter...and who knows what else. Just because it appears uninhabited doesn’t mean you won’t wind up pleasantly, or unpleasantly, surprised.
[ooc: Hey y'all! I thought this might be a good place to start getting larger groups of characters together to do some exploring, settling down, banding together and figuring out rations, etc. Feel free to throw up any threads of your own for specific things like exploration groups, a gathering in the entrance hall, whatever strikes your fancy or that you think your character would organize. Have a party!
Edit: Additionally, there is now an OOC Post for those that want to handwave their character signing up for ruin exploration]

It's probably best to assume that most bags in these ruins belong to someone; unless there's some skeletons laying about I've yet to have the pleasure of seeing.
[You know. Not living ones. That'd be pretty cool.]
no subject
The ghosts won't let you take their stuff.
[She prefers to steal items outside a skeleton's ethereal line of vision. Bitter spirits and monsters spawn wherever the bodies are-she can't handle it. Guess she's stuck with her rope and toothbrush unless an abandoned house appears. What a tragedy.]
Even if you say 'I'll take good care of it'. They still get mad.
no subject
How are they meant to stop you if they're a ghost?
[They're not particularly corporeal, or anything. But to each their own- and to each, their own set of worldly restrictions.]
At the least, I highly doubt there's many ghosts lingering here. They'd be highly irritated by the clamor, if so.

[The child brings up a good point. Ren's so used to their constant and random presence that it doesn't dawn on her they may not be around at all. They would have woken up with all the people scurrying around. Even if they were further in, they'd hear the noises. Ghosts are good at that.]
But sometimes they can sneak up and grab you. If you hear a scary noise, you should run far away.
[Which shouldn't be her main concern, considering she's accidentally looting from actual people who could grab her. Including the child in front of her. Whoops. Enjoy the unnecessary safety tip. ]

[...She's so young.
Perhaps they should be used to that. There were other children in Sol Raveh; other children, dragged from their worlds. Expected to fight in a war. The term 'child soldier' had been used frequently- and less in jest than some may have wished for.
Still, she's just. Young.]
I am Chara.
no subject
[That thanks brings a smile to her face. It's not often she can offer advice and this is the first time she can recall someone taking it. Stay safe, Chara.]
I can show you places to hide. This is something I'm good at.
no subject
Hiding is always a good option; perhaps you could show my sibling, as well.
no subject
Are they small like you?
[She can't teach an adult, Chara!! They're too big.]
no subject
[So one could only expect they're the same height. That being said- she seems to have some trouble with what they consider basic concepts.]
We were born at the same time. Kittu is the same height as myself.
no subject
[It's good to have a sibling around so they won't have to be alone. Even better that they're similar stature. It makes it easier for her to come up with her impromptu teaching plan.]
We'll find places you can both fit. It's safer to stay together.
no subject
...I appreciate that. Thank you.
Do you- have any method with which to defend yourself?
no subject
[That's her method of defense and despite the survivalist setting of her world, it's the only one she's ever needed. Seto was brave and took care of fights. She lacks that trait and responds accordingly, via running and hiding. The best kind of defense.]
If it gets bad, that's something I can do.
[The enemies had been easy to see thus far. Instead of ghosts spawning in front of her eyes, they've been creatures she can see from a distance and avoid.]
no subject
For a moment, they consider the benefit of offering her another one of their knives. It would bring their own supply down to five... if they needed to trade one off, they'd be stuck handing over one of their enchanted weapons. Henry isn't here, either.
Doubtless, they'll never be capable of obtaining more of them again. That aside, would she even know how to use it? Would she?]
I have another idea.
If it gets bad, you can come and find myself or my sibling.
We'll help you hide.
no subject
The offer is met with a small smile. It's a reminder of a time when she was younger. Back when the all the children were alive and they tried to look out for one another, outside of the gazes of doctors and scientists. It didn't mean much in the end. One by one, they died. And she'll die too.
Still, she wants to see them live. If she can show these siblings a few hiding spots and gain knowledge of some in return, they all might survive longer.]
Okay, I promise to find you. Look for me if you get scared, too.
I just realized Chara introduced themself as Chara...pretend they said Kidwun...
[If the situation is even remotely dire enough to distress them, they can only imagine what it would be like for her.]
Let me know if you find any good hiding places.
you got it!
[It might take awhile to find and scope out a safe haven for the two siblings. Wouldn't do much good to have a hiding place at night that doubles as a monster hangout in the afternoon. One day, she'll come to them with great news.
But until then, off she goes. Probably to loot more bags.]
