[ Much, much later, once Karin's found herself to some sort of relative safety, you might spot her huddled up somewhere looking considerably more average than she did before. She's plopped herself down on the floor, knees pulled up to her chest and her face mushed into her knapsack. Going by the slow, even rise and fall of her shoulders it looks like she's up and conked out. But if you approach her (intentionally or just get a bit too close in passing), she jerks awake with a huge wheezy inhale and her eyes wide if a bit unfocused. ]
