Ruins Mingle Log!

What: So a bunch of people headed up towards the ruins, so they've got to all run into each other and start to congregate, right???
When: Evening of the mingle log and onwardish.
Where: The Ruins
Warnings: Um...same as the mingle log?



The beach curves up a gentle slope until it meets forest, some manner of building visible through the trees. Further exploration of this area will reveal a dilapidated building of sorts; the architecture is indiscernible to even the most skilled eye. Despite looking as if it has seen better days, there are areas that offer some form of shelter...and who knows what else. Just because it appears uninhabited doesn’t mean you won’t wind up pleasantly, or unpleasantly, surprised.


[ooc: Hey y'all! I thought this might be a good place to start getting larger groups of characters together to do some exploring, settling down, banding together and figuring out rations, etc. Feel free to throw up any threads of your own for specific things like exploration groups, a gathering in the entrance hall, whatever strikes your fancy or that you think your character would organize. Have a party!

Heaven's forbid. What an interesting turn of events this has been. Across the ruins, Frisk looks up, catching their eye as the two share their thoughts on the proposition without a word.

Only then does Chara approach the man, smile prevalent as always.]

Greetings. I pray I am not too late to volunteer my sibling and I for duty?

[Newt's head jerks up from where he's rooting through his backpack, and nearly jolts. "Kid with a striped shirt" definitely rings a bell...and Newt's getting slowly to his feet. But...this is a different world. It's probably a different kid??? Yeah. Totally]

Uh.....yeah. No, you're not too late. What's your guys' ability levels when it comes to fighting?

[The look he gives them is...mildly off. Not used to children, perhaps. He'll learn.]

More than adept. We've taken care of ourselves in worse situations than this.

[...okay then. No reason to be suspicious, right??? They're not the first kids that could take care of themselves. Newt nods at that.]

Okay, cool. I'm gonna give everyone another ten minutes, and then I'll throw some groups together and let you know. I figure you and your sibling wanna stick together?

That would be highly appreciated, sir.

[There's a slight pause; a purse of their lips as they stare up at him. Assessing- making no attempt to hide the fact that they are.]

I must admit, I assumed it would take far longer for someone to attempt such arrangements. Have you had prior experience in such things?

[...so....they're staring at him now. Newt frowns slightly, definitely starting to look uncomfortable, and about to clearly say so--but they beat him to the punch]

Uh...I mean, this is the third time I've been dragged to another world with out my consent, so kinda? I mean, basically, I'd rather not have anything that's hiding in these ruins come out and try and eat us. Because that would suck.

[That steals a laugh from them- it's not the most pleasant, but it's definitely amused.]

I really wouldn't put it past this place, no. I'm glad there's someone about with experience in this.

[The more other people can handle themselves, the less they have to pretend they care.]

Yeah, I wouldn't put it past this place either. [Newt just shrugs a shoulder] I've been through a similar song and dance before, so...fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me; fool me thrice, you're a dick; y'know?

[Oh, this one. They like this one.

Their shoulders grow slightly more lax as their smile widens; in some aspects, it makes them look far younger.]

Let me guess; at some point, there will be a grand quest expected of us that really provides no personal benefit to any castaway.

[asldfkhs Newt can't help but grin at that, warping the scars on his cheeks] Yeah, but we should definitely do it because it'd be good for everyone, and not just the whoever-it-is that needs shit done for them, right? [so much sarcasm. So much.]

At which point do we garner an incentive of being provided whatever we wish- at a price? I heard gods are like genies.

[It's possibly too on the nose- but then, they're having too much fun being a sarcastic little shit to care.]

[Newt snorts, choking on laughter. It's only funny because it's true and how can you do anything but laugh?] Yeah, three wishes, except they all are not what you asked for. Choose your wording carefully and watch what you wish for and thanks for nothing. A great load of fuckin' garbage.

[wait. Newt pauses, blinking at the name...before the corner of his mouth quirks slightly]

Out of curiosity, what's your sibling's name?

[His amusement is met with a dry, knowing look.]

Kittu. We know- our parents were terrible at naming things.

[asndfs Newt sputters out a short laugh, because he just can't help it, but he's grinning good-naturedly.] Hey, on the bright side, your names are totally unique and you probably won't meet anyone with the same name as you.

[It's fine. In the end, they can't really expect a response aside from this.

Frisk is just as bad at naming things as Asgore.]

[Newt can't help but roll his eyes at that.] Newts aren't lizards, dude, they're amphibians. [the corner of his mouth quirks] But you say that like I mind. Amphibians are awesome. They can survive on land and in water.
