You're certainly not wrong about that, but it raises the question of how we'd prevent that. As far as I'm aware, none of us have the sailing skill necessary to get a boat successfully from the islets back to the mainland, and no one except the Storyteller seems to much about the pools. We can all use them by now, I believe, but I don't think we've got any way of repairing one should it stop working.
