No. We've been firm enough, we need something different now.

[There's been plenty of firm hands, and what did that get anyone? Harsh judgements and harsher penalties. What they need is to be softer.]

See, the whole thing is happening because our system holds humans to such unreasonable standards that none of them can ever possibly be deemed "good" enough to escape torture. There's no room for nuance or growth, and no understanding of how difficult life is on Earth. I don't know what exactly we need to do, but I don't think I can be okay with judging them the same way at all anymore. We need to be more flexible.
