Now that things are calming down, the thoughts of their people and what they lost are becoming more and more prominent, more and more difficult to ignore. They need to find somewhere less humid, with less proximity to potentially corrosive saltwater, but their steps drag as they walk. Their people are gone. Their allies have abandoned them. They have no home to return to.
Their continued existence serves no purpose.
And yet, they cannot stop.
They almost don't notice the cat. When they do, they say nothing (or at least, nothing understandable), merely stop and chatter awkwardly. One of their headflaps raises.
