I studied a kind of organism that, from what I've heard, seems to be unique to my world, and the phenomena surrounding them. Since mushi and gods are both pretty closely connected to my world's source of life, there ended up being some inevitable overlap. If a god was ever having trouble, people like me were better-equipped than most to provide help.
