He's done battles before. Like, big, epic battles. He's survived most of them - perished in others - but was still there for the final showdown. A lot of weird, uncommon circumstances in his life lead to these extraordinary moments, and Magnus and his friends had their final victory and their happy ending.
Which is why, when the sun came down, he was excited for the thrill of battle. He just wanted to kick some ass! He was more than happy to help these new creatures in this weird world, battle-ready and ax in hand. The first day was fine; the second day, too; but then the days began dragging on and things stopped being fun fairly quick, specially when one of this closest friends, someone who he calls family, someone whose death never came to him as a possible concept, got almost lethally injured.
How's that for a wake up call?
After that, he started making rounds between the temple, mana pool, and often going back to Chol, getting tired and winded a bit quicker than he liked. But he's only human, and doesn't even have his best weapons in here. His friends, the ones that are in this place, don't even have all of their amazing, powerful magic. It's starting to dawn on him that this is really serious.
He's just back from one of the rounds, tired, wounded, but nothing he can't take. He just needs a breather, a moment to rest his eyes, and he'll get right back out there.
He spots Ammy, and, for a moment, there's a very simple part of him that gets really sad. Mostly because, at a quick glance, she looks like a hurt dog, which is pretty heartbreaking.]
