A sparring match, a spat in the sand for a bet in a world without an economy - the end result is the same. They learn something new by engaging in new opponents. It will take numerous tries, trial and error. They will fail - of this they have little doubt - and they do not have a jackal god to pick them up again when they falter. They have a Storyteller who rouses them in a different way and with sharper consequences.

If all goes well, it will not come to that.
