Lup's grief isn't a big production, for once. There's no wailing or raging as one might expect, she's too plain exhausted for that. Too spent. Her shoulders are heaving with deep, painful sobs, her hair sticking to her tear-wet face, but it's a fairly quiet, lost thing. All the shouting and bluster and anger in the world won't bring him back fast enough.
She doesn't notice anyone approaching until she feels a presence settle down beside her and there's a split second of hope and relief before she looks up. It's not the face of her twin she sees through her veil of tears, but the relief can stay anyway. Their pumpkin, she made it back too, unscathed by those horrors. Lup almost manages a smile and clutches her hand like she's having to reassure herself of her existence, both Ren's and her own.
But this brief spark of joy can't last under the weight of the pain, and she gasps through another sob. "I'm sorry." Sorry that she didn't think to check on Ren, didn't even try to get back to her. Sorry that she didn't bring Taako back safely. Sorry that she'll miss him, too.
